Whats new with BA Tortuga
Whats new with Rhys Bowen

Summertime and the living is easy. Right?
Not for many of us. My summer so far has been fun, but certainly not lying in a hammock with a cool drink in my hand.
In
mid May we went to Europe for six weeks. I met with various producers
and editors in London and then signed books at the Warsaw bookfair in
Poland. My books are published in Polish but I was gobsmacked (as they
say in UK) when I spotted a whole bookstore window displaying my books
at THE OLDEST BOOKSTORE IN EUROPE.
After
that it was vacation time: a few days in Rome, a brilliant cruise up
the Adriatic coast and then some kicking back time in the Dordogne in
France before more work in England.
As
soon as I got home I had to start work on the next Georgie book that I
am calling Malice at the Palace. Do you like the title? It features a
royal wedding ( a real one). And a fictitious corpse. And lots of
hijinks at Kensington Palace where Kate and Will now live.
But
just when I was going full steam ahead real life intervened, in the
form of my son's wedding. We had relatives arriving from across the
world and went up to a remote mountain site where we slept in yurts. We
hosted the rehearsal dinner at a restaurant on the lake and the ceremony
took place among tall pine trees. Very lovely.
No
sooner was that over but I have to do edits on my next Molly book, due
out next spring and called THE EDGE OF DREAMS. Here is a sneak peek at
the cover. What do you think?
And in less than two weeks, on August 5th, my next Lady Georgie book, QUEEN OF HEARTS, is published.
I won't be doing a big tour this time, just the West Coast essentially. Here is the schedule:
August 5 7.pm Book Passage, Corte Madera. Launch party with champagne and goodies.
August 6, 5:30 Copperfield's Santa Rosa. Dinner and book talk.
August 7, 7 p.m. Mysterious Galaxy, San Diego, CA.
August 8 2:30 p.m. Book Carnival, Orange, CA
August 8, 7 p.m. Vroman's Bookstore, Pasadena, CA
August 9th 2 p.m. Poisoned Pen, Scottsdale, AZ
If you plan to come, please recheck the times with the stores as they do change.
And
if you can't come and would like a personalized signed book, you can
contact any of the above stores and they will have me sign and ship one
to you. Poisoned Pen especially does this very well.
And
if you like listening to the audio version of my books, Audible will be
releasing this around the same day the book comes out. Again with the
fabulous Katherine Kellgren reading it.
Which
brings me to another piece of good news. Katherine won the Audie award
for best female narrator for reading The Twelve Clues of Christmas. She
even beat out Meryl Streep. Yay Katy!
And
for those of you who have asked about the status of the Royal Spyness
movie--all I can tell you is that it's progressing slowly. They have
just taken a new script writer on board and we hope that the script is
finally what they want and we can go into production. Of course I'll
keep you updated. I should have other exciting snippets of news to share
next time I write to you!

Thank you for all your letters. I'm so glad that you enjoy reading
Molly Murphy and Lady Georgie's adventures. I certainly still enjoy
writing them.

you want to keep up with my day to day news (and see lots of lovely
pictures of my trip and the wedding, then please go to my Facebook page

I
am also on Twitter as @rhysbowen AND I am part of a fabulous group blog

So I think that's enough news for today. I hope to see some of you at my events.

banner, all holiday stories are 25% off while everything else is 20%
off! Great deal, right? Well they've sweetened the deal by making

it up now. Every day they have new stories for .99c so make sure to
check into the site each day for some great reads to add to your list.
Since
2010 I have been blessed with the opportunity to live out my dream as a
writer and have had multiple novels and short stories published. It's a
very humbling and very amazing thing to experience. Every time a new
contract comes or the next cover is shown to me, I can't quite stifle
the giddy 'child on Christmas morning' feeling I get. When I see how
many people have read my stories and even more so the ones who loved
them it makes me want to pinch myself to see if it's real. Every day I
spend with my readers on Facebook or Twitter, or the ones who take the
time out of their busy days to email me, is like receiving a new gift. I
am also grateful for my health, my family, my every day job (even
though it takes away from my writing), my furbaby's health, and waking
up each day to know I get to experience them all over again.![]() |
| (not the official cover yet!) |
And
I have been blessed once more this year with another upcoming novel
from Dreamspinner Press. The follow up to Chasing Seth featuring the
ever loveable Nick Cartwright and the arrogant ass Thayne Whitedove.
Look for Forgiving Thayne release information in the coming months. Due
out in Sept/Oct this year!
To
offer my own Christmas in July gift, I am having a mini give away. I
want to know what you're grateful for in your life. Have you
accomplished your dream? Do you have a wonderful family? What about a
great job you go to every day? What makes your life worth getting up
every morning and facing each new day with a beautiful smile and a happy
heart? Tell me in the comments below, on my Facebook Page (LINK), or
Tweet me on Twitter (twitter link) to enter! No restrictions on country
either. So anyone can enter. You must post your comment by no later
than 11:59:59 pm Eastern Standard Time July 31st to be eligible to win.
What's the present? Well it wouldn't be a present if it wasn't a surprise, right? ;) I promise you'll love it!
Happy
Christmas in July, everyone! Gift yourself by checking out the .99c
month long deals over at Dreamspinner Press. There's still six days left
in the month. ;)
