From Kiss to Queen by Janet Chapman

Review:

From Kiss to Queen - Janet Chapman

Jane Abbott knows that she's nobody special, so instead of looking for romance she's hunting partridge in the Maine woods when a plane crashes into a nearby pond. Diving in to save the pilot, Jane instinctively gives him air by way of a lifesaving kiss, and leads him to safety through a barrage of gunfire.

The handsome stranger returns the favor by kidnapping her.

Clearly no ordinary man, and insisting Jane's life is in danger, Mark spirits his stubborn guardian angel to an aircraft carrier in the Atlantic Ocean. Only then does she discover that the mysterious Mark is actually Prince Markov Lakeland.

Soon to be crowned king of the young country of Shelikova, can Mark persuade Jane that she has what it takes to be his queen?

My Review:

I thought From Kiss to Queen was a cute romance but I felt the relationship was a little forced way too soon and Jane's desperation to be a mother kind of felt off but it provided for some interesting and amusing conversations. I thought Mark and Jane were fantastic and I really liked them as a couple but I also felt something was missing in their emotional bond. However that did not take away from how great this book really is. I just need a more deeper bond to pull me into a romance like this. To other readers From Kiss to Queen is a five star read - pick it up and savor it.

The Summer Bride (Chance Sisters #4) by Anne Gracie

Review:

The Summer Bride (A Chance Sisters Romance) - Anne Gracie

Fiercely independent Daisy Chance has a dream—and it doesn’t involve marriage or babies (or being under any man’s thumb). Raised in poverty, she has a passion—and a talent—for making beautiful clothes. Daisy aims to become the finest dressmaker in London.

Dashing Irishman Patrick Flynn is wealthy and ambitious, and has entered society to find an aristocratic bride. Instead, he finds himself growing increasingly attracted to the headstrong, clever and outspoken Daisy. She’s wrong in every way—except the way she sets his heart racing.

However, when Flynn proposes marriage, Daisy refuses. She won't give up her hard-won independence. Besides, she doesn't want to join the fine ladies of society—she wants to dress them. She might, however, consider becoming Flynn's secret mistress. . .

But Flynn wants a wife, not a mistress, and when Flynn sets his heart on something, nothing can stand in his way.

My Review:

Its so cute seeing the man doing all the chasing. Mister runaway bride kind of romance captures readers between seduction and conflict. Anne Gracies finale for the Chance Sisters is fun, its exciting, and its cast captures its readers for a fantastic win all can be all bet the house kind of romance. I really enjoyed the Summer Bride, don't forget to bring a box of chocolates with you!

Movie Night: Beauty and the Beast (2016)

Review:

Beauty and the Beast (2016)

A beautiful detective falls in love with an ex-soldier who goes into hiding from the secret government organization that turned him into a mechanically charged beast.

Interesting concept but a lot of plot holes / available plots for possible follow up season that's been rumored to be coming despite the fact that the writers wrapped the show up at the end of its third season. Which I am so glad they tried to conclude the right way for a HEA ending because I'm tired of shows ending with complete cliffhangers and no way to solve them.

The shows creators left plenty of possibilities by not answering several questions that mostly randomly came in toward the end of the second season.

Its mostly angsty in the mid point of season two and rather over done by season three in which the cast are mostly tooting their own horns over all the relationship/fate stuff. The first season was great then veers dramatically off for the next two into a whole new space of strange/ ridiculous and mostly unbelievable or silly but it has its dramatic pull you in moments and some cuteness to take the edge off.

I really liked the cast and the pairings even though I didn't really care for JT and Tess being paired. Didn't really mesh for me but it was a toss up because Heather lost all her possible romances so they needed to do something to keep relationship tensions going between the stalls of Catherine and Vincents drama.

In the end Beauty and the Beast was okay and entertaining and I have to admit I mostly stuck with it just for Jay Ryan because ... well, that doesn't need explaining.

Awakened (Intimate Relations #3) by Kate Douglas

Review:

Awakened - Kate Douglas

Small-town barista Mandy Monroe will never forget the first time she saw the man of her dreams. Every morning, this impossibly gorgeous hunk would ride his bike past her coffee shop, fueling her wildest romantic fantasies. But when she learns that her crush is none other than vineyard owner Marc Reed, one of America’s hottest young entrepreneurs, Mandy knows her fantasy will never become a reality. That is, until Marc’s home burns down and he moves in with her…

As a roommate, Marc is as warm, friendly, and down-to-earth as he is rich, famous, and heartstoppingly handsome. But beneath his laidback exterior beats the heart of a red-blooded man with an uncontrollable urge to take Mandy in his arms and make mad, passionate love to her. Mandy is everything he’s ever wanted; she’s sweet, smart, funny, and irresistibly sexy. But how he can tell her the truth about his past? How can he explain the nightmares that haunt him every night? And how can he tell Mandy he loves her…without putting her heart, and her life, in danger?

My Review:

I have never read a Kate Douglas book that I did not like. Awakened is the third book in the Intimate Relations series and rounding up all the previous plots which took place and were resolved a little too quickly for me. If you haven't read the previous books in this series I suggest reading those first just for the background information.

I still mostly loved this edition simply because of the relationship. Sometimes I love books for their plots and I want more of that instead of our cast and other times I want more cast than plot. This was one such case where our h/h carried the weight of the story and kept me invested.

Side note: I think this is the first time I've seen an underlining pregnancy fetish mentioned in a story and so quickly but hey whatever turns you on, eh? Some guys like the thought of knocking up a chick during sex, some simply tease about it out of amusement but its the first time Ive seen it in a romance like this. Heh.
