Wish List (City Love #4) by Belinda Williams

Review:

Wish List: City Love 4 - Belinda Williams

Could the wrong man on paper be the perfect man in real life?

Cate Harmon likes lists. While this may serve her well as a financial planner, her girlfriends think that creating a checklist for her ideal man is going a step too far. But she has one, and she’s sticking to it.
Cate has always dreamed of starting a family and settling down and yet she’s the only one of her close knit friendship group still unattached. But that doesn’t mean she’s going to lower her standards.

Enter Dave, a reformed bad boy with gorgeous hair and eyes the wrong color. Dave doesn’t tick any of the boxes on Cate’s list. It’s unthinkable that she would develop feelings for him, and yet … Cate finds herself being drawn to Dave in a way she’s never felt before.

Will Cate confront the reasons behind her list? Or will she risk losing a man who could be better than any list she could ever dream up?

My Review:

I love Williams work, she always pens fun fantastic romances that capture your heart from beginning to end. I really enjoyed the mister wrong is mister right perspective because sometimes its just the mix you need for everything to click into place. Although Cate took a minute to grow on me she eventually won me over and I was cheering along for our h/h to find their HEA.

I always have a great time reading Belinda Williams books and I can't wait to read more again in the very near future.

Shadow Rider (Shadow #1) by Christine Feehan

Review:

Shadow Rider (The Shadow Series) - Christine Feehan

Whether it’s fast cars or fast women, Stefano Ferraro gets what he wants. When he’s not fodder for the paparazzi, he commands Ferraro family businesses—both legitimate and illegitimate.

While their criminal activity is simply a rumor yet to be proven, no one knows the real truth. The Ferraros are a family of shadow riders capable of manipulating light and dark, an ability Stefano thought ran in his family alone—until now…

With little left to her name, Francesca Cappello has come to Chicago in hopes of a new life. She wasn’t expecting to attract the attention of a man with primal hunger in his eyes, driven to claim her as his to protect and to please. And if he discovers her secret, it could ruin her.

My Review:

The end result as an introduction to a new series really fell short for me. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great and the thing I couldn't connect to most aside from Francesca and Stefano was the fact that the story itself through nearly the entire thing really didn't feel as if it could decide what it was it wanted to be. I didn't engage and wasn't drawn in until the last couple chapters and by then it was over. However the thing I did like most were the side characters, the sister, the brothers, and so on.

I do wish the Shadow world had been explored more and given more fleshing because that was supposed to be the main focus of this book and yet I felt as if much of it really wasn't given a whole lot of page time or development.

I did like that there was less hardcore sex, less abuse on the female partner at the hands of her male partner, and more focus on the story itself but it took me a long time to finish the book simply because it felt as if it dragged too much. I am curious about the brothers books and I will be reading them I just hope that our cast are more likeable, more alive, more animated and less numb and less robotic as they felt this time around and I also hope that we get a more established history on the Shadows and more Shadow development later on in the next installment. There is potential in this story somewhere and I hope that its found in the next book.

Fan the Flames (Search and Rescue #2) by Katie Ruggle

Review:

Fan the Flames (Search and Rescue) - Katie Ruggle

In the remote Rocky Mountains, lives depend on the Search & Rescue brotherhood. But in a place this far off the map, trust is hard to come by and secrets can be murder...

As a Motorcycle Club member and firefighter, Ian Walsh is used to riding the line between the good guys and the bad. He may owe the Club his life, but his heart rests with his fire station brothers...and with the girl he's loved since they were kids, Rory Sorenson. Ian would do anything for Rory. He'd die for her. Kill for her. Defend her to his last breath-and he may just have to.

Every con in the Rockies knows Rory is the go-to girl for less-than-legal firearms, and for the past few years, she's managed to keep the peace between dangerous factions by remaining strictly neutral. But when she defends herself against a brutal attack, Rory finds herself catapulted into the center of a Motorcycle Club war-with only Ian standing between her and a threat greater than either of them could have imagined.

My Review:

To start off I think the biggest thing that prevented me from rating this book give stars was that it felt too busy. It was trying to be too many things at once by trying to do the multi - personality / career / interest thing. The story had enough focus for it to be one thing instead of many however the cast really carried the rest of the book for me and that's what kept my interest. The second thing I'd like to add Ian can search and rescue me any time any day. He's a delicious morsel I enjoyed savoring. I really thought when I started this book he would be the anti hero kind of guy but turns out that's all he is. Good guy caught up in the bad boy world. Don't be fooled though he's no one to mess with but I never really bought his bad guy thing. He is fab.

Had a great time reading Fan the Flames and would totally suggest it to anyone that loves fun MC / Rescue hero reads.
