Heartthrob (Hollywood Hearts, #1) by Belinda Williams

Review:

Heartthrob (Hollywood Hearts, #1) - Belinda Williams

Ally Valenti doesn’t belong in Hollywood. Not like her friend and actress, Lena Lyons. Lena’s convinced Ally to pursue her dreams of fashion design, starting with some gowns for the awards season.

Which Ally will get around to creating as soon as she can stop looking at Jacob Swan, Lena’s latest co-star. Not that she’s staring. Ally’s skeptical of anything celebrity and it’s not like she’d be pathetic enough to fall for a Hollywood heartthrob.

Then Ally learns there’s more to Jacob than his good guy, all-American persona. She finds herself torn between the desire to get to know him better and her determination to stay out of the limelight.

Of course the media has other ideas—and someone doesn’t like all the attention Ally’s getting. When threats aimed at destroying her fashion career go too far, Ally’s convinced she’s living in crazy town.

The sensible thing would be to retreat home before it all ends in spectacular fashion. But will Ally be leaving more than her dreams behind if she says goodbye to Hollywood?

First in the Hollywood Hearts Series gets off on an intensely emotional start.

Heartthrob brings to the table what happens when you fall for someone who comes with a lot of baggage and a hell of a personal price tag.

There is a lot of: is love worth the pain and the sacrifice and a lot of emotional turmoil that is heavy in the drama with a  splash of hope when the cards are stacked against you.

I liked that both Ally and Jake had some serious fences to climb and difficulties to overcome in order to develop and prepare themselves and their involvement for what the reality of their relationship would look like for both of them.

I liked that there was real issues they had to get through and I liked the reality of their relationship with honest struggles that readers could relate to on a human level.

Williams has always been really great at bringing an emotional honesty to her work and that talent continues on in this book as well.

Personally there was a tiny bit too much angst but in a high tension situation that's understandable. That being said I thought this was a great read and I look forward to seeing what Williams has planned next.
