Boone Price and his brothers know oil; at least, the dirty, backbreaking side of working an oil rig. But when their scrubby, worthless hunting land turns out to be sitting on top of one of the biggest oil wells in North America, they go from the rig to the boardroom and end up billionaires practically overnight.

Now with enough money to do whatever he wants, Boone is developing a taste for fine things. And the finest thing he's ever seen is Ivy Smithfield, local realtor. Boone's determined to buy her affection and show the world that he's more than just a dirty fool with a bit of money. Ivy's classy and beautiful - she'll make the perfect trophy wife. The fact that she's sexy and funny is just a bonus.

There's one tiny problem - Ivy's as dirt poor as Boone is. Her carefully crafted veneer of luxury? All an act to promote her business. What's Boone going to do when he finds out the woman he's falling for is, well, in his league?

 

 

 

I don't really understand this portrayal of "tough guys" as assholes to the women they're attracted to or how its supposed to be alluring but personally its rather off putting to me personally as a woman. The whole chauvinistic I'm he man you're woman do my bidding - watch me swagger thing does nothing for me right now. Its too much too heavy and doesn't give any romance vibe between Ivy and Boone. 

He's so into himself that its hard to see that he can even see Ivy at all beyond his own reflection. Its off putting. Neither of the few intimacy scenes make up for it.

While the story itself is decent I just didn't care for them as a couple. Too opposites to make an attract.

What is Storytime?

As most of you know Krissys Bookshelf Reviews has a lot of adult books in its review inventory but that isn't the only kind of books that I read and I love to share the books I love. 

So I've decided to feature some of those other reads.

Even though there wont be full reviews written for the children/kids books that I'll feature I will be posting a rating status for them.

That's where the hungry caterpillar comes in.

I'm sure most of you who know who he is if you've read Eric Carle's books. Which happen to be one of my favorite hence I've used him as my inspiration for ratings.

Three hungry caterpillars is the equivalent of a gold star, one is the equivalent of a bronze star. (3 = most liked, 1 = least liked.)

The first Storytime post seems to be getting positive feedback so I've decided to keep doing it.

I look forward to sharing more books with the rest of you very soon! I hope the rest of you will join me in sharing my love of reading children's stories for that little kid at heart.

How the White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back (White Trash Zombie #4) by Diana Rowland

It’s zombie versus zombie as the Saberton Corporation declares war against the Zombie Mafia, kidnapping several of their party.

It falls to Angel to lead the remnants of her gang halfway across the country to claw their way through corporate intrigue, zombie drugs, and undead trafficking to rescue her friends—and expose the traitor responsible for their abduction..

 

 

 

 

I think I mostly loved everything besides the easy out at the end. It seemed just a little too simple to threaten to release the *you know what* to the public and have the exit door that was so direly needed at that minute.

It was quite a bit of build up for something that felt so eh once it was said and done.

Still not sure how I feel about the Andy thing either but time will tell I suppose.

What I did like was the fact that Angel was pulled out of her current comfort zone and really sort of I don't want to say blossomed but she rather came into her own quite well.

You can feel the change that she's mate from the person she started out as (even though there's still quite a bit of it left) to the one she is now.

I especially loved the "Godmother" scene which was wicked great.

There's some not so clear issues when it comes to intimacy and personal relationships but things are definitely changing on more than one level for Angel.

I really enjoyed this installment to the WTZ series I hope it continues for a long time to come beyond the next installment and beyond. There is so much to this world that's only just beginning to be explored and I hope we get to see more of it.
