Review:
A king and queen wage a war of wills in the third installment of Whitehall, an episodic royal tale full of true history and sensual intrigue, new from Serial Box Publishing.
The honeymoon is over as Charles and Catherine cross swords over the matter of his sultry mistress. With her eye on a lofty position in the queen’s inner circle, Barbara’s manner of persuasion proves pleasurable for some and painful for others.
This episode is brought to you by Barbara Samuel, who could persuade the devil himself.
"On His Blindness" continues the 13-part serial, Whitehall, presented by Serial Box. Intrigue, romance, and scandal fill the palace halls in this historical tale, collaboratively written by Liz Duffy Adams, Delia Sherman, Barbara Samuel, Madeleine Robins, Sarah Smith, and Mary Robinette Kowal.
My Review:
Tension rises in this third installment as Catherine, the King and Barbara all butt heads as Catherine tries to establish more control of her surroundings and Barbara tries to assert her own form of control by manipulating her way into Catherine's inner circle.
Again, I had to set aside actual historical expectations and maintain that this was purely unstudied fiction.
I think I enjoyed this installment a lot more than the previous one but again I felt it was a little bit short on development and detail which I wish had been a bit more but when you're involved with a serial there tends to be minor skipping for lack of page space to rush readers from point a to point b.
I would really like to see this serial brought together as a whole cohesive book with more fleshing and detail. I think it would be fantastic.

Weddings, baptisms, and a birth make up a recipe for drama in the second installment of Whitehall, an episodic royal tale full of true history and sensual intrigue, new from Serial Box Publishing.
Weddings and births are usually causes for celebration – but no joys are simple when a royal family is involved. Jealousy and suspicion lurk everywhere as questions of loyalty – to faith, to promises, and to the heart – shadow the new king and queen of England.
This episode is brought to you by Mary Robinette Kowal, who cautions all against the green-eyed monster.
"Skilled Artifice" continues the 13-part serial, Whitehall, presented by Serial Box. Intrigue, romance, and scandal fill the palace halls in this historical tale, collaboratively written by Liz Duffy Adams, Delia Sherman, Barbara Samuel, Madeleine Robins, Sarah Smith, and Mary Robinette Kowal.
My Review:
As the second installment to the Whitehall series it picks up where the first book picks off however it felt a little bit rushed where there could have been more time spent on really detailing Catherine's relationship with the king as well as his involvement with his mistress.
This is a vital part of the drama I felt could have used a bit more page time instead of jumping so quickly from one point to another.
However this doesn't take away from the fact that there is enough intrigue to keep readers plenty entertained.
A jealous kings mistress and a queen seeking the love of her king is difficult indeed.

England gets a new queen in the first episode of Whitehall, an episodic royal tale full of true history and sensual intrigue, new from Serial Box Publishing.
Winds of change carry a young Portuguese princess towards her destiny as the sun rises on Whitehall. Sheltered but curious, Catherine of Braganza arrives in her new English home full of eager excitement, but what this pious foreigner’s arrival will mean for the Merry Monarch she is to wed – and the mistress who holds his heart – is what everyone is talking about.
This episode is brought to you by Liz Duffy Adams and Delia Sherman, who know every embarkation is an adventure about to happen.
My Review:
What a fascinating first installment to a serial.
I'm not typically won over by historicals because I tend to feel like the author puts too much of themselves into the history than actual history but I wasn't overly concerned by this issue this time around. I simply held it as fictional and allowed myself to let go long enough to take in the world and the characters and the plot which were so vivid and full of life that I really truly enjoyed it.
In the end it was way too short for my liking but, you know, serial... so keep that in mind.

Review:
PROMETHEUS – One of the keenest Titans to ever walk the earth. Until, that is, his weakness for the human race resulted in his imprisonment.
For thousands of years, Prometheus’s only certainty was his daily torture at Zeus’s hand. Now, unchained by the Eternal Guardians, he spends his days in solitude, trying to forget the past. He’s vowed no allegiance in the war between mortal and immortal, but when a beautiful maiden seeks him out and begs for his help, he’s once again powerless to say no. Soon, Prometheus is drawn into the very conflict he swore to avoid, and, to save the maiden’s life, he must choose sides. But she has a secret of her own, and if Prometheus doesn’t discover what she’s hiding in time, the world won’t simply find itself embroiled in a battle between good and evil, it will fall in total domination to Prometheus’s greatest enemy.
My Review:
I've always enjoyed this series from the start. I've also increasingly grown to really dislike Zeus for what he's done. Its not fair everything he's caused and put the cast of characters through.
Prometheus continues to be pushed and pulled between choosing sides which he hates doing and being a pasty to both the woman he finds himself drawn to and the god that has made his life a living hell.
I really felt for Prometheus and what he was going through.
Keia seduces him to save her life and also is the first to stake claim to a male who is so masculine that it actually makes their interactions a bit comical for me because I tend to get used to the men that are like him doing the chasing in romance novels.
This also makes for some pretty hot sex scenes between him and Keia because she tends to take the reigns and quite often lets her call the shots.
It was interesting to see how Keia changes her stance from using Prometheus to falling for him instead.
I liked the mutual rescue and survival tactic up until the heart break of reality brought Prometheus to a new realization that things weren't all as they seemed.
Way emotional.
Of course Naughton found a way to provide the best kind of ending a fan could hope for. I'm not telling what it is because its heart melt worthy.

Review:
Troy has a problem: he likes a girl whose best friend likes him. Should he take the marshmallow in front of him, or wait for the Preferred Reward?
My Review:
I should have known better going in that I wasn't going to care for this book but I was hoping that maybe the author or the characters would redeem themselves somehow or make their actions more justifiable. It really didn't.
The biggest struggle I had was personally disconnecting my feelings from what was taking place in this book. I've been on the receiving end of an unfaithful spouse and friend so I had a difficult time trying to find reasons to make what Troy did okay.
In the end I couldn't and this massively affected how I felt about the entire eat my cake and have it too line of thinking.
As for the book itself I think the characters had more potential for development including the plot which needed more fleshing to it beyond just the sex which was odd because in a situation you would think would be very emotionally charged everything felt a little numb and disconnected.
There's room for improvement but this one just wasn't for me.
