Review:
Four waves of increasingly deadly alien attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother.
The Fifth Wave felt abrupt and rushed, the movie didn't spend enough time really exploring the affect each wave had on humanity it just touched on it briefly before moving on to the next thing. I was really interested in this film but everything felt so emotionally flat. I knew going in that its difficult getting much excitement from such a young cast is hard to do because they lack the emotional depth and maturity to be able to express a wide range of feeling.
The movie does have an interesting hook that is actually pretty good but it isn't great because it feels a little clouded by the previous issues I felt were a large part of this movie.
I do wish that we (the viewers) had gotten more out of the sleeper cell back story and I really wish that we had gotten more out of Evan's character because he felt like the only one that really had potential (as an actor/character) in this movie.
I felt that this film could have spent less time on getting to and from one stage to another and more time on character development than it did however I still feel that there is potential here to pick up what they lacked in this film for the following sequels if the company cashes in on the following stories which the Fifth Wave series is based on.
