Review:
Atrophy by Jess Anastasi
Twelve years on the prison planet Erebus makes a man long for death. The worst part for Tannin Everette is that he was framed for murder. He's innocent. When the ship Imojenna lands for emergency repairs, Tannin risks everything to escape...only to find himself face to face with the captain's undeniably gorgeous sister.
Zahli Sherron isn't planning on turning Tannin in. In fact, she actually believes him. Sure, he's sexy as every kind of sin, but he's no criminal—so she hides him. But no one escapes from Erebus and lives to tell about it. With every day that passes, Zahli further risks the lives of the entire crew...even as she falls in love with a man she can never have for herself.
My Review:
Atrophy was more than I was expecting it to be. Jess has created a sort of Pitch Black kind of paranormal romance but with a whole lot more depth to it. I really liked that the characters weren't just flawed but they had redeemable qualities and personalities that played well with the living creature that made this casts world. I honestly think the author played down how expansive this world really is. I hope that Jess decides to expand on this book and create a series because there is so much she has brought to the table for her readers.
While there are some fairly predictable plot issues and some questionable events that take place that I felt could have been built on a bit more or fixed I really hope that we get to see more in the very near future.
My Rating:
4 Stars
