July Gardens and Free
Book
A good portion of my summer is spent
in my gardens. Besides rows of rose bushes in the front of our house, I
have a big island of flowers in the back, plus a vegetable garden.
Butter in the Well is free
July 11 to 13I give most of my garden produce away to senior citizens in the area. They love to receive vine-ripe tomatoes, new potatoes and fresh-off-the-stalk sweet corn, and so appreciative for the fresh food. Besides their thanks, they usually share memories of past gardens with me too—which makes my work and sweat worthwhile.
The garden was an important
part of the "Butter in the Well" homestead, both in Kajsa's time and also
in mine while I was growing up on the farm.
I don't know if our gardens were in the same spot on the farm, but I included several garden stories in the book series. If you'd like to enjoy these stories—and more about Kansas homesteaders, the ebook version of Butter in the Well will be free on Amazon July 11 to 13. Please mark your calendar if you'd like to download it during these days. If you're an Amazon Prime member, you can borrow the book when you want to. And if you missed this free book, please check back on my Amazon page on future weekends because I’ll be doing another free book again this summer.
Please enjoy your summer days and the
fresh produce it provides!
Many thanks from the Kansas
prairie...
where I'm growing food—and memories—for others. Linda Hubalek
