Enjoy An Exclusive Sneek Peek of: Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer!

Spindle Fire Half sisters Isabelle and Aurora are polar opposites: Isabelle is the king's headstrong illegitimate daughter, whose sight was tithed by faeries; Aurora, beautiful and sheltered, was tithed her sense of touch and her voice on the same day.

Despite their differences, the sisters have always been close. And then everything changes with a single drop of Aurora's blood—and a sleep so deep it cannot be broken.

As the faerie queen and her army of Vultures prepare to march, Isabelle must race to find a prince who can awaken her sister with the kiss of true love and seal their two kingdoms in an alliance against the queen.

Aurora

Winter seemed to come early in 1313, the year Aurora was born. For days that July, a mass of damp white flakes clung to treetops and roofs like snow.

Some thought perhaps it was the North Faerie’s doing. They were wrong.

In her day—which was a very long time ago indeed—the North Faerie had been known for wreaking havoc on the skies whenever she lost one of her infamous chess games. But she had died many decades before our story begins, mysteriously murdered in her own home. That’s why the White Throne, carved entirely from the tusks of narwhals, is now called the Red Throne; it’s covered in her blood.

Aurora knows the stories well—she’s read the entire 313-book collection of faerie histories in her grand library. Princesses have a great deal of time on their hands, after all. Especially princesses like Aurora, who have no sense of touch and no voice. These were tithed from her just months after her birth.

But it wasn’t snow that came down that summer, for it didn’t melt. And it wasn’t any faerie’s doing either. As everyone who was alive then and remains alive today remembers vividly, the ashes that rained over heads and homes and whole towns across the kingdom of Deluce had one very distinct quality: the acrid scent of spindle fire.

Wet wool.

Wood smoke.

Burning hair.

Bound Together (Sea Haven/Sisters of the Heart #6) by Christine Feehan

Review:

Bound Together (A Sea Haven Novel) - Christine Feehan

The Sea Haven series comes to a climactic end as the mysterious man from Blythe Daniels’ past re-enters her life. Don’t miss the final Sea Haven novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling “queen of paranormal romance” (J. R. Ward).

For five years, Viktor Prakenskii has put his life on hold in order to take down the world’s most feared motorcycle club from the inside. But carrying out the insane violence and seeing the club’s exploitation of the innocent has brought his traumatic past roaring back. And there’s only one cure: to see the wife he left behind...

Blythe Daniels thought she’d never see Viktor again after he murdered her stepfather and left without a word. She rebuilt her life without him, becoming a personal trainer and physical therapist...becoming strong enough for others to lean on. But when Viktor comes back to Sea Haven, he’ll make Blythe question everything she thought she knew about good and evil—and the dark desires of the heart.

Why have Feehan's male characters turned into A- class A-holes? I mean really, after all the crap Blythe was left alone to deal with regardless of his reasons I didn't appreciate the whole throwing his weight around barging back into her life and giving her the whole 'you're going to forgive me, that's the end of it' kind of speech instead of earning his way back into her life and the forgiveness I didn't particularly feel he deserved at this point in the game.

While Bound Together was the finale of the SH series I have a feeling its just going to be a jumping off point to start a new series with the MC's. Will we get one? I don't know but we spent enough time with them for the ground work to be laid.

After finishing Bound Together I still felt like Blythe could have used a better ending and probably would have been better off on her own or possibly with someone who deserved her love and earned it rather than having her roll over and heeling to Vik's domineering insistence.

Yet I'm not all that surprised. Lately Feehan's females no longer have a mind of their own and the men mostly control them regardless of what series you read. Its not bad but I would have liked seeing Blythe be stronger and have a stronger presence than she did. I favored her so much that I felt she deserved a much stronger foothold on how things went down.

Brighter Than the Sun (KGI #11) by Maya Banks

Review:

The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super-elite, top secret, family-run business.
Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background.
Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering.
Handling jobs the U.S. government can’t...

As the last unattached member of the Kelly clan, Joe is more than ready to risk life and limb on any mission he’s assigned to, but when it comes to love, he’ll keep his distance.

He’s content to watch his brothers become thoroughly domesticated.

Zoe’s had nothing but heartbreak in her life, and she’s determined to start over with a completely new identity, thanks to her college friend, Rusty Kelly.

But it’s the gorgeous smile and tender words of Joe Kelly that begin to weaken her resolve to never risk her heart again. And Joe will have to put everything on the line to save Zoe, when secrets of her past resurface—and threaten to tear them apart.

I have no idea what I just read.... or why.

While I enjoyed getting a visit with the previous cast (because I'm a van of reunions and cameos etc) this was just ridiculous.

The story was ridiculous, the h&h were ridiculous... this whole thing was filler, filled by more filler, followed by filler and flowery powder on a level I can't begin to describe.

Obviously Banks is bored with the series, now readers are bored with it, now its time to end it. Its gotten too long and it no longer excites. This sucks. I am so bummed.
