Movie Night: Don't Blink

Ten people arrive at a secluded mountain resort to find it completely deserted. With no gas for the return trip, the visitors are forced to stay and investigate the mystery surrounding the abandoned lodge.

Don't Blink actually had the workings to be a decent horror movie. Unfortunately its writers didn't cash in on all the potential directions it could have gone to make it good.

There are way too many unanswered questions too many plot holes and too much over dramatized fear through the movie that left me feeling just a little underwhelmed.

I kept waiting and waiting for some big moment or revelation that just ... never seemed to arrive that left me feeling like.. that's it?

I really don't know what else to say about it.

You get a few clues that the cast never seemed to see like the "help me" on the kitchen cupboard and the "don't blink" on the mirror or the people walking in the forest behind them when they're standing at the gas pump, but there are so many plot holes and under developed scenes that I wondered what the point in it all was.

There's no great secret, no great villain or supernatural explanation as to where everyone went or why or how. They just disappeared. I would have been happier if the cast had someone to fight, someone to escape or an answer to uncover. Instead you're simply left with the fear of the unknown and their reaction to that fear leaving the viewers with the same question the cast had in the beginning which is basically what happened?

My biggest questions still would be what did the heat and cold have to do with anything? What did the missing animals and bugs have to do with it? Why would they see the hanging rope if everything the victims touch vanish with them? What did the agent at the end know and what was the point of his presence at the end if they don't say?

There are just too many unknowns in the movie without much rhyme or reason and in the end with all the heavily emotionally latent scenes with the screaming, sobbing and crying and violence it all just feels completely out of place.

My biggest disappointment is that you have a great cast who are all talented and do their roles well but the story line and everything just kills it.
