RIP Kenny Baker (Aug 13, 2016)

With the recent passing of Kenny Baker aka R2-D2 I decided it was a good time to binge the Star Wars saga (or movie rather since 1-6 were meant to be seen as one long film) but not only did I watch the movies themselves I also binged the double bonus disc special feature set.

I love binging special features. There is something I enjoy about watching how a film or show comes together.

I love seeing the imagination, intention in the creative process and the copious amounts of time and energy as well as energy it takes to birth a movie from paper to the big screen.

Its fantastic when you watch the Star Wars special features because you get a front row seat to George Lucas and his creative genius, you get to watch sets get built, watch the actors play with one another, you get to see everyone involved from the floor up put themselves into its creation.

I believe watching the special features makes watching a movie two times better than I would if I hadn't seen it because I develop a new form of respect for how it came to be.

Star Wars had a great accumulation of bonus features that come with the film.

I especially enjoyed watching Kenny talk about how it felt to return to the Star Wars set, to part take in his role as R2 - D2 and how happy he was to be there.

I loved being able to see him like that. He was a celebrity trend setter before it became a thing.

Cheers to Kenny for bringing R2- D2- a well loved icon to life!
