Movie Night: Victor Frankenstein

Review:

Victor Frankenstein

Told from Igor's perspective, we see the troubled young assistant's dark origins, his redemptive friendship with the young medical student Viktor Von Frankenstein, and become eyewitnesses to the emergence of how Frankenstein became the man - and the legend - we know today.

I loved a lot of the imagery in this film, the sets were beautiful. I thought it was a great idea to use a new perspective on the whole thing since its not commonly used the way the other films have been. I really felt that McAvoy did a fantastic job playing Victor, his acting skills have done nothing but soar since his earlier films.

I'm really impressed with the work that he's done and the effort he's put into his acting as he's gotten older.

I'm still iffy about how I feel about Radcliffe's skills but I have to give him credit that Igor couldn't have been an easy role to play because there isn't a whole lot of in depth exploration of Igor's character to research.

Although I don't feel that the last half of the movie really fit in with what the beginning started with that's the main thing I felt could have used some work.

I know Frankenstein isn't Frankenstein without a monster but I felt the movie could have been more of a telling of Victors life or his history instead of the creation part and it still would have been good. Either way the movie had potential but the ending didn't quite fulfill it.
