Movie Night: The Boy Next Door

Review:

The Boy Next Door

A recently cheated on married woman falls for a younger man who has moved in next door, but their torrid affair soon takes a dangerous turn.

My Thoughts:

J-Lo has made a career out of playing female victims in semi- thrillers to abusive or psychotic male counterparts. This film is no different. J-Lo plays a Mother/Wife/Teacher in a complicated relationship with her separated husband has a one night stand with an all too hot and all too willing neighbor kid and so begins the movie.

Although its predictable from the beginning what's going to happen the action picks up fairly quickly and holds through the rest of the movie for the final confrontation in the climax. The only thing that could have been changed is the ending.

They should have added a few seconds of Claire talking about what happened to wrap up how they all came to be where they were. Instead she simply steps into an ambulance and they drive off so the ending kind of has that unfulfilled resolution that ties everything together. They could have at least had her interact with a cop in the movie when she investigates Noah's past that in the ending could have discovered Vicky and came to the rescue after her b&e at Noah's.

Anything would have improved the ending.

You get a bit of the creep factor with the stalking but the movie didn't really reach its full potential on what it could have achieved as far as story line. The movie was an hour and a half long but it could have been better improved if they had added just a few more minutes or a few more details. I still consider it worth the watch though.
