Movie Night: Ghost Adventures and Ghost Asylum

Review:

Ghost Adventures and Ghost Asylum

Paranormal investigator Zak Bagans leads his team of co-investigators Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin at haunted locations both in America and abroad, interviewing locals about alleged hauntings before going face to face with supernatural entities. Each hourlong episode follows Bagans, Groff and Goodwin as they work to uncover the paranormal mysteries, and after piecing together the haunted history of each site, the team holds a dusk-to-dawn "lockdown" in an effort to obtain physical evidence of the paranormal and discover the truth.

The Tennessee Wraith Chasers (TWC) are passionate paranormal investigators. The team has a specific niche in the supernatural realm -- seeking out activity at asylums, sanitariums and mental hospitals. Unlike other teams, TWC isn't content to conjure up incorporeal beings and collect evidence; it uses traps to capture restless spirits. With common sense and adventurous tendencies, the team either debunks or validates each case it researches, whose venues include hospitals where dead nurses roam the halls and a rehab center that has cries coming from the windows.

My Thoughts:

I'm tying both these shows together because after watching both of their marathons yesterday I have the same thing to say about both of them.

Both crews are a likable cast but both have the same exact problem. Ignorance.

Simply doing an investigation does not release its spirits or remove those that are trapped in those locations.

These paranormal crews interact, antagonize or communicate with the spirits in haunted locations but they're also adding to the problem.

These souls good or bad are either stuck or choose to stay but many are trapped and need to be freed.

Having a group of guys come in drawing more attention to the location for people to come in and harass these spirits is wrong, but what's worse is coming in and telling them that they're there to help them and leave thinking just showing up and interacting is going to change anything.

Many spirits are in desperate need to be released and being trapped in a location causes them further duress. Being left behind after someone claims they're there to help makes it worse.

They're torturing these souls.

These paranormal crews need to do their homework and they need to learn if they're going to claim they want to help how to open a portal so that they can send the spirits that need or want to be freed through.

I believe many of these guys are decent people that want to make a difference but I am deeply angered by the responsibility they take into their hands influencing other people to go to these places to do investigations and they take responsibility for how these spirits are treated by them. Not all people that go to them come in and treat them with respect.

They either need to actually help or not investigate at all.

There are plenty of options out there for helping spirits. Plenty of supplies/practices/rituals, sensitives, religious/spiritual leaders and more that can help cleanse these locations for the living and the dead.

Both Ghost Adventures and Ghost Asylum are great shows but I really wish they would be more responsible.

My Rating:

4 Stars
