Mass Book Review Update

When We Met

20893538

I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from NAL.

When We Met turned out to be a really great read for me. Although I some of the plot topics didn't impress me it was the characters and their emotions that really did it for me. They were gripping, I loved the friendship, and I liked how the authors dealt with the relationships and the interaction between the characters. The character maturity was appropriate and over all it spoke to the heart. I really liked it.

Beauty and the Billionaire

Beauty and the Billionaire - Jessica Clare I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

I found it really difficult to think of what to say about this book. Beauty and the Billionaire reminded me of the Disney's Beauty and the Beast, add the sex with the tv shows Beauty and the Beast hero put in his place.
 photo Beauty-and-The-Beast-CW-Episode-7-Out-of-Control-2-550x411.jpg

You know, horrifically scarred and sullen but rich beyond means with an unbelievable innocence that needs to be brought out of him? Yeah.
And then there's his love interest Gretchen who doesn't mind the scars because she's a seductress with a heart.
Unfortunately none of it really seems to convince me that Hunter and Gretchen belong together because they really don't mesh well. Not even the sex which is fairly heated is believable. I mean, sure, making a guy lose it before you get the chance to consummate the act can be hot but the naivete of his mind really doesn't pull well into the over all story and rather than being sexy winds up fizzing into a low simmer instead of a boil.
I just couldn't believe in either character which is odd because other books I've read in this series are so great. I thought it was written well and it was good book just wasn't my cup of tea.

Primal (Overwatch Book 1)

Primal (Overwatch Book 1) - Sasha White I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

Primal - not to be confused with Sasha's other release Primal Male of the Psychic Hunters series is the second book in the Overwatch series and is about Adam whom readers get a glimpse of in the first book. Even though the BDSM club part really wasn't necessary the story would have worked just as well if she said that Adam was simply a kinky SOB. Either way we still get a sexy, dirty talking, panty dropping sweat maker.
I thought the dynamic between Adam and Olivia was interesting and could have been explored more in depth however Primal really isn't that type of story.
The instant attraction was ofcourse a fundamental presence in the story and I did so enjoy watching Olivia come undone. Although I think there was more in her than was first assumed. I also felt that Adam is a bit more softer than he is hard since we get quite a few scenes with him coddling Olivia, being gentle and soft hearted. It will interest many ladies interested in a man that can dominate in bed (even though there isn't a lot of that dominance explored.) Primal is hot, its sweet, and its got a hero that women will love.

Black Rose

Black Rose - Kris Thompson Thank you to the Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House and Netgalley for a digital copy of this book.

If you want to read a book that will totally blow your mind then Black Rose is your book.
This is one of those Along Came a Spider, and The Cell put together kind of twisted complexity thrillers. Kris Thompson comes out strong in a novel filled with suspense and crazy hair raising mystery. I am blown away by the confidence that the author puts into her work and I am glad because it pays off. She masters her story all the way to the end. I can't wait to see what Kris Thompson has planned for the future.

Riding Steele #1: Kidnapped (Ready to Ride)

Riding Steele #1: Kidnapped (Ready to Ride) - Opal Carew I received a digital copy from Netgalley and St. Martins Press.

I enjoyed Riding Steele but I felt it was too short since I really wanted to get the whole story but as its being split into multiple novellas. I'd say that's a good thing since the story has caught my interest. I love the character personalities and interaction, the flirtation and the intimacy is hot. I hope for more in the next installment.

Review:

I received a digital and print copy from Netgalley and Signet in exchange for an honest review.

Side note: Will you get a gander at this cover? Seriously. I love how bad ass this cover is. Elle has some fantastic cover work for her books.
That being said, I loved this book. Jim and Noelle are fantastic. They're both strong willed and strong minded, they carry the story so well and between the action and the passion readers get a full dose of high flying heart racing fireworks.
Elle is a fantastic writer that knows how to put a wonderful story full of well written details and emotions that pull readers in from beginning to end.
Every time I read her books I wind up sitting through the entire thing and finishing it without stopping for breaks because I get so absorbed in the excitement of it all.
For readers that are fans of her previous books in this series will enjoy this addition because they get to see Noelle and Jim finally get their story told. Its amazing and it packs a hell of a punch.
Midnight Action is great.

Furious Fire

Furious Fire - Shiloh Walker I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Samhain and Netgalley.

Is Grimms on book 8 already? I can't believe its coming to an end which is wild because Shiloh has added more to it that could be built on for more books in the future even though it isn't quite over yet I think it'll tie into the next book. I think Furious Fire has been the best installment of them all. Furious Fire is exciting, its passionate, its filled with mystery and intensity. But it also has quite a bit of underlying sadness in it as well. Its great when an author can create such high emotions in their readers. I really enjoyed it.
I have to say that new readers probably won't be able to follow the story well since there is a lot that goes on in the Grimm world that pertains to the previous books and on going characters that regular readers are familiar with.

Heart of the Serpent

Heart of the Serpent - N.J. Walters I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Samhain and Netgally.

I really wish I'd had the chance to read the previous books in this series because I felt I was missing a lot of background information when I started it. But how could I resist? It's N.J. Walters.
I've never read a book by N.J. that wasn't totally fantastic.
The writing is strong, the plot is strong, the world is as special and unique as its characters. Every part of NJ's creative talent knows how to dig deep and really build something that's beautiful, dark and passionate all at the same time.
I love the complexity of her characters, I love both their burdens and their demons, I love all their redeeming qualities and their relationships. I felt for Mordecai, I felt for the pain he suffered from. There were so many of the characters that felt so real and the journeys they were on were so emotionally tied into so much depth you can't help but feel for all of them.
N.J. is a fantabulous author and I enjoy her work and her Hades Carnival series immensely. I wish I had copies of them to add to my shelves at home. I'll definitely be looking for them.

Wolves' Bane

Wolves' Bane - Angela Addams I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

There was a lot of conflict for me in this story because there was quite a bit of insecurity and contradicting emotions fluctuating within Morgan that it was hard to stick with her through the beginning but I stuck with her. There were so many unique characters and personalities in Wolves Bane that I almost needed to keep a list of who was what, did what, and what their powers were. There were a lot of elements that were recognized in the paranormal romance genre but there was also quite a bit that is special to this author.
A boon for all the female swooners, the men are dominating testosterone pumped... animals that will take over your world.
The love triangle complication is one that carries and weighs heavily on Morgan's shoulders that you can't help but want to understand everything she's going through. She's a character that grows on you and that you really grow to feel for her and the things she goes through as she tries to find her way through the complicated journey into her position and into the heart of the one she loves.
Be forewarned the sex is hot.

The Chalet: The Submissive Series

The Chalet: The Submissive Series - Tara Sue Me I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

The Chalet is a continuation of the BDSM "Submissive Trilogy." Readers get to be a part of Abby Nathaniel's tie the knot and slumber over ceremony or otherwise known as the wedding and honeymoon episode. Its a decent story, I was just hoping for more out of it.
I would have liked to have gotten some emotional content or interaction between Abby and Nathaniel but it just seemed to be a dead issue. Although there was plenty of sex to be had it just felt empty for me so I don't think I'll be continuing the series. Don't get me wrong its written well and its good steam action but I need more depth and feeling between my characters to invest in their stories.

Surrender

Surrender - June Gray I received a digital and print copy from Netgalley and Berkley in exchange for an honest review.

I thought Surrender was a great story, I liked the kind of healing and redeeming theme in the story but it was a little too heavy in the angst for my liking. I still finished the read and I still found much of it relatable but as its a sensitive issue I did like that for Julie there was still a possibility of achieving a happy life after the loss of a loved one. So there was that but in the end it was just too much negative emotional weight that kept the story from being one of my favorites.

Romancing the Billionaire (Billionaire Boys Club Novel)

Romancing the Billionaire - Jessica Clare I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

There were a few things I both liked and didn't like about certain plot details and character personalities but that didn't deter me from both enjoying and finishing the book. I liked getting to see Jonathan and Violet clash and mesh as they struggled through avoiding the giant elephant in the room involving their past. It was interesting that the parents were involved in that process in a small way but in the end the journey of healing was their own. Romancing the Billionaire was a good read and I look forward to reading more from the BBC series.

What a Woman Gets

What a Woman Gets - Judi Fennell I received a digital copy from Netgalley and a print copy from Berkley in exchange for an honest review.

What a Woman Gets is a slightly cheesy yet fun story to read when you're in the mood for a light read with enough hilarity and just enough seriousness that female readers won't think the men are too sensitive to believe. I liked getting to see the spoiled brat find her way through reality and discovering that there is more to Cassidy than I originally thought in the beginning of the book. Liam is a great match for her and I like them finding out that not all is as it seems, and that you can't always judge a book by its cover.

Make You Remember

Make You Remember: The Dumont Bachelors - Macy Beckett I received a digital copy from Netgalley and a print copy from Signet in exchange for an honest review.

Make You Remember is one of those heart felt stories that make you wish that you could redo your life and go back to that time when you thought your youthful relationship would last the rest of your lives by reuniting with said person and igniting that flame you once thought you had. Make You Remember is that and more. Its full of fuzzy heart warming sweetness, silly comedy and entertainment that readers will find delightful. I certainly did.
I think Make You Remember is a great story for any and everyone that it finds it way to.
I love the characters, I love the interaction and I love happy endings finding their way back as they make the perfect happily ever after.

A Highland Wolf Christmas

A Highland Wolf Christmas - Terry Spear I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Sourcebooks.

I'm glad that I got to read A Highland Wolf Christmas since it has been awhile since I've read Terry's work. Fifteen books in and she still packs in a lot of detail, a lot of romance and complicated twists to keep her readers entertained.
There were a few things I would have liked to have seen expanded on or cut out but I liked that despite it being a Christmas story we still get a healthy dose of drama following our characters who are trying to find their way through the difficult process of matching and mating. Terry is a great writer that brings her wolves to life and gives her readers great hero's to fall in love with and heroines to envy.

More Than Blood

More Than Blood (Arcane Crossbreeds) - Amanda Vyne There is quite a bit about this book that I liked, I really felt the supernatural world the author built was done very well and it kept me interested through the entire story, the only downfall was the interaction between Gabrial and Kel. I didn't feel the combustible zing between them in a story with a world that was built so strong. I believe in this series and I can see it doing really well with some added emotional investment for Gabrial and Kel.

Krinos

Krinos - T.L. Smith Krinos is an interesting story with a lot of contradictory information but the characters themselves are people that carry themselves strongly, I just with the author had stuck with one fact or another because much of it became confusing. There is quite a lot to build on and it has a lot of potential to be a really great with some tweaking but all in all I liked the idea the author came up with for it.

The Bourbon Kings

#1 New York Times Bestselling Author J.R. Ward to Launch
Contemporary Series The Bourbon Kings in 2015

New American Library Will Release First Book, The Bourbon Kings,
in Hardcover on July 28, 2015

Television Rights Optioned by Top
International Producer and Distributor Endemol Studios

New York, NY; October 30, 2014 – New American Library, a division of Penguin Random House, announced today that it will publish in hardcover the first book in a new contemporary series from #1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward on July 28, 2015.
Launching with a novel of the same name, The Bourbon Kings series will introduce readers to the Bradfords, a wealthy, aristocratic family in Kentucky who made their money from bourbon.
The books have already been optioned for television by Endemol Studios, the entertainment and production company behind the international hit TV series Big Brother, Deal or No Deal, Wipeout, Hell On Wheels, The Fall and Peaky Blinders, among others.
Set in the heart of bourbon and horse country, The Bourbon Kings marks a departure for Ward who hasn’t written extensively about Kentucky, though she lives in The Bluegrass State and has deep ties to the surrounding community.
Ward said:  “The Bourbon Kings are just like my Black Dagger Brotherhood vampires, flawed heroes for strong women who live and love in a vivid, ever-changing world of passion and excitement.  Readers can expect the same big emotions, epic storylines, and soul-deep love stories in these books—as well as those signature, OMG, I have to know what happens NEXT! kind of endings.”
With more than 15 million of her novels in print worldwide, Ward is an international bestselling author best known for her phenomenally popular paranormal Black Dagger Brotherhood series about a group of warrior vampires.  Dark Lover, the first book in the series, was published in 2005, and reader reaction was immediate.  Just eighteen months later, the fourth book in the series, Lover Revealed, hit the New York Times bestseller list.  Since then, Ward’s novels have held the #1 spot on the New York Times hardcover, mass market, eBook, and combined print/eBook fiction bestseller lists and have debuted in the Top Five on the USA Today bestseller list.  Ward and her books have been featured in USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, The Boston Globe and The New York Times.
“The Bourbon Kings has all the hallmarks of Ward’s hugely successful Black Dagger Brotherhood books—fascinating characters, compelling interwoven plotlines, passionate love stories—while also feeling completely fresh.  I’m thrilled to be starting a new series with the extremely talented J.R. Ward and am confident that readers will also find this one irresistibly addictive,” said NAL’s Senior Vice President and Publisher Kara Welsh.
The Bourbon Kings series will follow the Bradfords, those who work for them on their estate, Easterly, and several other wealthy Southern families involved in Kentucky’s bourbon industry.

Breaking Out

Breaking Out - Lydia Michaels I received a digital and print copy from Netgalley and Berkley in exchange for an honest review.

Hang onto your hats ladies... for those of you that have been following along and reading the first book, you're in for a doozy. I totally get it but I totally wasn't expecting what Lydia surprised us with this time around. The conflict, the heartache, the questions... She did not let up one bit.
I kept turning the pages and reading as fast as I could to find out if she was going to break the monotony of endless what's going to happen now questions but she stayed true to form keeping up with the high tension all the way to her cliff hanging ending that will again leave us on the edge of our seats until the next installment is released. I loved it and I hated it because I want so much to know what happens next!
There were so many times I wanted to throw the book across the room, so many times I wanted to scream at the pages in frustration and at the same time reach through the pages and loll out the therapeutic hugs. Note to readers: try not to bite your nails with this one I lost a few in the duration. (Urg)
Lydia has once again won my complete attention and fandom. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that book three comes out soon!

Sunflower Lane

Sunflower Lane - Jill Gregory I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and NAL

I was so taken back by this book that I was completely blown away. Grab the tissues, grab a pillow and a comfy chair because you're going to need it. I was on permanent sob mode through most of the book. Jill Gregory did a beautiful job bringing all her characters along with their pains, their doubts and their hopes to life. I'm not sure if I cried more, cheered more or was pent up with so much frustration because there were times that you just wanted to scream some sense into them but in the end I was delighted because Jill wrote so well that I couldn't help but love that she was able to bring out those emotions in me. The heartache, the fear, and the love as well as the healing are all epic moments that she handles beautifully. Sunflower Lane is a tale mixed with a journey for redeeming trust, heart, and family. I really enjoyed it.

I Saw Her Standing There

I Saw Her Standing There - Marie Force I received a print and digital copy from Netgalley and NAL in exchange for an honest review.

I have to confess that Marie Force is an author that has been growing on me for quite awhile. All her writing is different and always has its own special kind of flare to it. That's what I like about the Green Mountain series because she brings opposites together and despite the odds finds a way to make things work in a realistic way. I enjoy the opposites attract, against the odds, odd ball kind of story because its a story that brings hope to those that despite the dire circumstances of their life and the reasons why it can't work that just maybe your happy ending can find its way to you.
I'd definitely suggest readers beginning with the first book because otherwise readers may find themselves being confused by certain details but other than that I Saw Her Standing There is a wonderful book.

Heart Fire

20893335

I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

Is there anything that Robin can't do? The woman has managed to write her thirteenth heart series book. Note to Readers: It can be read alone or following the previous book so for new readers, don't be worried about getting lost because Robin makes sure to fill in readers on the details without being overly repetitive to followers that have been reading the rest of the books.
I enjoyed the growth of Antenn and Tiana's relationship because it was a slow building anticipation kind of thing instead of an instantaneous HEA from the get go. We get to savor the FWB/FBinteraction as they fall into lust with eachother. Its one of those conflicting frustration things where you're caught between being ready to just demand they get on with it already and enjoying the long lasting creation of something really emotionally satisfying.
HeartFire is a wonderful book, and with more than enough left to build on I can see the Heart series going far. :)

Spice

Spice - Seressia Glass I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

I didn't favor this story as much as I thought I would, it wasn't bad and its written decently but I wasn't impressed with the character interaction. Although many of the "Spicy" scenes were as they say: Spicy... I felt there was an emotional disconnect that didn't quite pull me in to feeling for Kane or Nadia and there were many secondary scenes that I felt weren't necessary or prudent to the telling of the story and if anything were more distracting from what should have been a really hot book. I think its got quite a bit of potential to be a really great story with some minor changes but as it is I enjoyed the read and the sex was decent.

Edge of Betrayal

Edge of Betrayal - Shannon K. Butcher I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

I really love reading Shannon Butcher, I love reading the Edge books even more because to me they're like a the romantic version of the Jason Bourne series. They're full of action, suspense, mystery and sexy interaction that a reader like myself dies to find in one combo. The Edge Of Betrayal is so intense and full of those *did that just happen* moments.
Shannon knows how to crate a perfect storm that keeps you twisted up and caught within it until the very last page. I do have to admit I didn't see the end coming so I was tickled pink by all the lip biting intense scenes Shannon brought to life.
I nearly cried during the helicopter scene. I won't spoil it but man do I love an epic heroine that women can envy. I wanted to leap out of my seat and scream, I was ready to jump out of my skin, I absolutely loved it!
Thank you Shannon for the action packed thrill ride!

Echoes Of Scotland Street

Echoes of Scotland Street: An On Dublin Street Novel - Samantha Young I received a print copy and a digital copy from Netgalley and NAL.

I really wish this book had been written from Cole's point of view however it doesn't lessen the great story that it turns out to be, and who doesn't like men and tattoos these days? I think I'm a sucker for those reunion type stories because every time I read a good one it quickly becomes a favorite. I like the cuteness of seeing Cole and Shannon together when they were young but its the fact that they get to grow up that really does it for me. I enjoyed their interaction and I loved how they brought the best out in eachother.

Believe

Believe - Erin McCarthy I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

I keep trying to follow this series because I'm hoping for something that will impress me. Unfortunately I don't think its going to happen. Believe really felt like teens involved in adult topics acting like children. Too many of the incidents and immaturity issues kept me from being able to enjoy or even finish the story.

Emma Blooms At Last: One Big Happy Family, Book Two

20893340

I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from NAL.

Emma Blooms At Last is a book I wasn't anticipating on getting since I don't typically read amish genre/ themed stories. Still Naomi writes well and creates characters that are decent and kind at heart with genuine affection for eachother. I like that no matter who is involved everyone is family and everyone matters. Emma Blooms At Last is a sweet story that's easy to follow even though its a part of a series and brings in a decent amount of heart warming sincerity to the readers.

There is still one thing I'm still left wondering- what the heck is a fried pie? (ha)

Kiss of Fire

Kiss of Fire - Rebecca Ethington Kiss of Fire was an alright read, there was a lot that just didn't keep up to par while a lot of it I felt was unique to the YA/NA type tales that have been coming out like cracker jack boxes these days and I would have enjoyed it more if the characters hadn't been so young minded. Still I was able to finish the book in the end. Although I am left with quite a bit more questions than answers.

Cowboy Up

Cowboy Up - Melissa Schroeder I really liked this story because I enjoy books with the coming home again tales. Melissa is a great writer that did a terrific job warming up my heart to her heroine and understanding what its like to lose everything with the only hope of starting over where it all began.

Prelude To A Fantasy

Prelude To A Fantasy - Melissa Schroeder Even though its a short story and a quickie the character interaction and the love scenes are great. Its even better for fans of the series that know who Zeke and Maura are.
Its a wonderful addition for the readers that enjoy back story installments.

Billionaire Season: The Long Hot Summer

The Long Hot Summer (Billionaire Season Book 1) - Kimball Lee I'd like to be able to say that I don't judge a book by its cover but come on, when you've got a cover like this how do you resist? I enjoyed the story although I felt as if I was stepping into a series mid point and missing some information on character background the character personalities and interaction were still enough to keep me interested and all the various interests and clashing passions by the end were enough to blow my mind. Seriously it really starts off with a bang and doesn't stop. There's harshness and unforgiving natures but there's also underlying depth. I wish that aspect was explored more but Kimball does a fantastic job writing a really hot story.

The Hand of Tharnin

The Hand of Tharnin - Robert E. Keller I liked this installment better than the first book of the series but I wished there was more character development and more maturing in it since he's supposed to have been more practiced at this point. Its not fantastic but I still like the world the story takes place in.

The Eye of Divinity

Knights: The Eye of Divinity (Knights Series) (Volume 1) - Robert E. Keller The Eye of Divinity is part of the Knights series and isn't really a story I would have picked up but a friend suggested the first two books to me so I picked it up and read it.
Its well written and the world is very well detailed. There were a few parts I liked and a few that I didn't since there were a few things that exasperated me about character personalities but the story itself was good and enjoyable.

Baby, Be Mine

Baby, Be Mine - Ginny Baird Baby Be Mine is the kind of story that reminds me of those Silhouette Bride books where some family member makes sure that the character in question gets their happy ending because their lives just aren't complete without someone to love and someone to love them back. Baby Be Mine is one of those type of stories you can easily see making the lifetime channel along with the other romantic films.

The Kraken King

The Kraken King - Meljean Brook Thank you Netgalley for the digital copies (of the serial) and NAL for the print (final) copy in exchange for an honest review.

Okay Iron Seas fans... Notice the cover in the corner states *The Complete Novel* because as many of us have been dying for it to happen, it is finally here. The Kraken King in its entirety.
If you thought the serial ebooks alone were the best ever then just wait for them when you have them all in one place.
The biggest thing that frustrated me when the serial first released (ebook form) was having to wait for the next one to come out. I'd have to read the first one wait on the second to come out, then I'd have to reread the first and repeat with the next.
Now with the Kraken King in paper back in one book I can devour the whole thing and get a broader scope of the story and also invest in the characters and plot so much more intensely.

Everything is better when you get to read The Kraken King from beginning to end in one sitting. You find details you missed before, you become so much more attached than you did before, its great.
I absolutely loved the Kraken King the first time around but getting the real thing in my hands is a different experience. I love being able to have the actual print form in front of me because it makes it that much more real and easier to invest in all the way through.

The Kraken King is a fantastic tale by Meljean Brook, who in my mind just gets better every time she puts out a new book. The woman is a brick house writer. She builds stories that completely engulf you and the more books she puts out the better she gets. I don't know how she does it but its amazing.

I fell in love with Zenobia and Ariq the first time I read The Kraken King and now I get to re-experience that love affair with their story all over again. Its fun, its witty, its exhilarating, and its sexy. I love it.

The Boyfriend Sessions

The Boyfriend Sessions - Belinda Williams I'd like to thank Pan Macmillan for providing a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

When I stumbled across this book online I found myself quickly curious as to what it was about. I figured there would be plenty of comedy or romance, which there is quite a bit of however The Boyfriend Sessions has much more meaningful depth than I realized. What was interesting to me wasn't the couple that it eventually becomes about but the journey it took for them to get there. Mostly for me was being a part of the learning and coping process and vast emotional turmoil Christa had experienced at a young age. Belinda writes a story that really examines the reasons we *Christa* knowingly or not experience the type of relationships or relationship issues that we suffer from later in life. Its therapeutic to find that there are many people that have suffered past pains and those things have such fundamental impacts on our lives, confirming that we aren't alone in that place. What is so great about it is the emotional support *Christa* has through the process of realizing the reasons behind why she is the way she is even though she didn't realize it until her friends brought it to her attention. Its a wonderful story of finding your way through healing.
Absolutely enjoyed The Boyfriend Sessions very much and would suggest it to others.

Archangel's Shadows

Archangel's Shadows - Nalini Singh I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

I had to sit through this one twice in one sitting because to me it was so epic. There are so many authors who's work become jaded or fake after writing so many books for a series but Nalini is nothing of the sort. Archangel's Shadows is a reunion mix of new suspense mystery and old time favorites. She manages to pull readers into a strong story packed with her brilliant creativity and after making us wait in anticipation readers get a novel with Elena, Raphael, Ash, Janvier, and not to mention Naasir!
I couldn't believe how naturally Nalini has managed to bond her worlds and embrace them so naturally together that it flows perfectly. As if that wasn't enough she has built multiple plots and questions that can continue this wonderful series we fans have come to love that will create even more explosive books for us to read.
I won't give any spoilers but I will say that Archangels Shadows is a little slower than usual but you can tell Nalini is building something great to follow because it all seems to be creating a major precipice. I can't wait to see what Nalini has in store for us next.

To Love A King

To Love a King - Shona Husk

I received a digital copy from Sourcebooks Casablanca in exchange for an honest review.

To Love A King is a sensational book. I wish I could click my heels together three times and make a print copy appear in my hands. I think its the best book I've read from
Shona yet.
I really wish that I had gotten to read the previous book because it appears to pick up where the previous (book/s) left off. However Shona doesn't leave readers beginning with this novel in the dark. She does well to fill them in on the details without being repetitive or annoying. She handles it beautifully and quickly while moving on with the story being told in this installment.
Right away I was grabbing for the pillow and hoping that I didn't have to cling to the tissue box.
Shona is a wonder at bringing readers into the plight and heartache of her characters and bringing them along for the ride while anticipating a victorious end.

Dear Santa... I hope to add all of Shona's books to my collection at home! :)

Touch a Dark Wolf

Touch a Dark Wolf - Jennifer St. Giles You can never go wrong with St.Giles, she is the most fabulous writer and every single one of her books is special and fantastic. Her plots and characters are always fresh and they always manage to complete your need for an absolutely perfect read.

Reaper's Stand

Reaper's Stand (Reapers Motorcycle Club) - Joanna Wylde

I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

I liked this addition to the series better than the one I began with even though I still need to read the first two novels I enjoyed getting to see a peek at some familiar faces from the previous book I have read. I really enjoyed that the characters were taken more seriously this time and that we got more into the not so pleasant realistic factor that comes into an MC involvement. Joanna has done a wonderful job capturing the bad guy essence in her Reapers series and I enjoy that it isn't ridiculous. She captures sexy and sweet and mixes it with a splash of dangerous. Its great.

Second Skin

Second Skin - Caitlin Kittredge I started Second Skin mid point in the series apparently and really needed to read the previous books to understand what the heck was going on so I spent most of my time lost since I had no idea when I picked it up that it was a part of a series. Although I liked the story the characters didn't impress me but I'm still curious enough to want to start at the beginning to fill in some answers to the many questions I have about the book.

Embrace of the Damned

Embrace of the Damned - Anya Bast You know those books that you can't get enough of but can't quite place as to why? That was this book for me. I literally read this book five times in one sitting after checking it out from the library then went out of my way to scrounge for the book in every bookstore that I could find just so that I could add it to my collection at home. Three months, several bookstores, and many repeated visits later I finally found a copy.
I really hope Anya makes a series out of this book of the damned because I think the plot and the characters really have something special that would make it a phenomenal favorite.
Its not like jaw dropping action that keeps you immersed in the book but its the emotional depth and the interaction between the characters - plus not to mention quite a few possibilities that could really blow readers minds.
Embrace of the Damned still remains one of my recent favorites and I still continue to return to it over and over.

Gray Bishop

Gray Bishop - Kelly Meade, Kelly Meding I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I was so impressed with this book. I haven't read the first book in the series but it didn't seem to be necessary to follow along with the current plot so I felt it would do well as a stand alone or a saga. Kelly Meade is a new author to me but I was glad when I got started reading that I was given the opportunity to read Gray Bishop. Its uniquely written, and the characters although full of plenty of angst are wonderful. I can really see this series going somewhere because it is super great.
This novel made me want to cry on more than occasion, it had me cheering on more than one occasion and it got me hooked. I can't wait to read more by Kelly Meade in the future.

The Viscount's Christmas Temptation: Dukes of War #0.5

The Viscount's Christmas Temptation: Dukes of War #0.5 - Erica Ridley I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I really enjoyed The Viscount's Christmas Temptation. I thought that Amelia and Benedict were fantastic together, I had a blast watching Benedict teach Amelia how to enjoy life. I wish that the author had made this short story into a full novel because it had so much potential to be absolutely one of the best novels. It was still great but I was greedy and the story was so good that I wanted more. :) However I am content with the fabulousness that Erica has written. I think its a story that can be enjoyed in the holiday season or during the rest of the year. Amelia and Benedict are wonderful together.

The Second Chance Hero: A Forever Love Story

The Second Chance Hero: A Forever Love Story - Jeannie Moon I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I enjoyed this story overall but I felt as if the author couldn't decide if she was writing a military romance or a millionaires romance themed story. It was a little confusing at first but once I invested in the characters journey which was mostly emotional I grew to enjoy it.
I found myself growing quickly invested in the growth and development belonging to both Owen and Kim.
I thought they meshed well together and I was happy to have been a part of their story.

Only Enchanting

Only Enchanting - Mary Balogh I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

Only Enchanting is a wonderful read, I really loved this installment of the Survivors Club. I especially favor it already because its not often you read about flawed characters both in heart/mind and or in body. You often get a wounded hero playing the reluctant lover but I was pleasantly surprised to find that Flavian did well to pursue his lovely Agnes. I was pleased with the cat and mouse chase of who's heart falls the hardest and it was a lovely blend of personalities and a fantastic embrace of a beautiful love story. Mary is a brilliant writer that creates wonderful stories with characters you can't help but fall in love with the same time our hero and heroine are discovering that their hearts too are head over hills.
A beautiful story to read.

Loving Him Off the Field

22057875

I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I don't typically read sport novels unless they're by particular authors whose writing I already know but when I sampled this book I couldn't turn it down. I am glad that I didn't pass on it because it turned out to be an absolutely fantastic book. There is a lot of heat but under the steam there is quite a lot of heart and depth to it. To top it off the author had more than one twist to keep her readers guessing. Loving Him Off The Field is a book I'd suggest everyone read because its a mix of hot and spicy and warm and fuzzy that I could not put down.

Final Lap

Final Lap - Erin McCarthy I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

Final Lap was a great way to close the Fast Track series although I could honestly see it going much farther. I enjoyed it because Harley was a character personality you don't get to walk with too often these days. She's both strong in and out of the bedroom, and while conservative and intelligent she isn't imposing and she isn't a person that gets lost in the background. She has a steady presence that any female can respect and find something in common with.
I really loved getting to see MJ fall into adoration for Harley and I really enjoyed getting to see Harley enter Coop's messed up life and turn him and his little sister into a functioning family.
Although Cooper over all to me really seemed to stand in the back and not particularly draw any attention to himself I felt he could have been a much stronger character. However I think in the end it was appropriate for Harley because she needed someone that wasn't overbearing to help bring her heart into the foreground.
I was happy that Erin brought old favorites along for the final bow and I was content with the ending which also could have ended on a stronger note, but was enough to conclude with a decent HEA.
There were quite a few chuckle moments, and good steam scenes Final Lap is a read you can pull out for a calm quiet day.

SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Jackal

SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Jackal - Don Mann, Ralph Pezzullo I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Don Mann is a writer I would place on a Best Seller list, I just cannot say it enough - the man's writing is phenomenal. He is a fantastic writer that really brings you into the story right from the first sentence all the way to the final word of the book. There isn't a moment that you aren't ready to jump up and scream because you aren't devouring the pages fast enough. I love the nail biting hair raising suspense and action, I really enjoy the dialogue because its not all hokey or cheesy. Hunt the Jackal stays true to its form and its readers all the way through. I really enjoyed this installment to the series. Fantastic.

Linger

20821336

I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Signet.

Linger was a book that really took me by surprise. Both in the character aspect and the personal and intimacy levels in which Lauren creates them. She does a fabulous job researching the true details of the sexual BDSM relationship (outside of club walls) and she brings it into the home setting in a way that follows the true relationship dynamics of such players. The author handles it all very well and she does a beautiful job of breaking the masculine/feminine duo into an honest exchange of power and love. I really enjoyed Linger. I am glad that an author finally understands the workings of that kind of relationship and manages to write it so well.

Before You Break

Before You Break - Christina Lee I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from NAL.

Before you break is an interesting YA read with some NA and adult interaction and topics interwound in the story. Ella and Quinn discover eachother through a hotline that she volunteers for after they both experience a loss of a loved one. While they both find strength in eachother for such a serious topic the book doesn't take much else seriously. Its a decent read but I didn't find much else inspiring about it.

Priestess Dreaming

Priestess Dreaming - Yasmine Galenorn I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

My oh My! Yasmine has written one of the best yet. Priestess Dreaming is one of the most intense, most passionate and exciting additions I've read. I thought the others in this series were great but every time Yasmine manages to create something that just can't compare to the next. Where does she get her brilliance from? Its amazing! I especially love the strong female lead balancing out the story and giving readers a sense that they too could be just as sexy, just as powerful. I love it.
I love how Yasmine embraces both the beauty and the strength of women that can stand up to and beside strong willful and passionate men. Top it off with some bewitching powers and you got yourself a potent mix. Its too good to wait for the next book I can't get enough!

Scandal and the Duchess

Scandal and the Duchess - Jennifer Ashley I received a digital edition from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this addition to the MacKenzie / McBride series. It was a bit of the regent delicate flower hoodlum womanizing duke type read but it wasn't over played and it wasn't filled with ridiculous antics that most stories like this tend to obsess over. Some parts were just a little bit too silly but I liked that it kept it light hearted. While the step son was a bit over the top as a punk his position as well as Rose's easily understood. Readers can easily pick as side as who to love and who to hate, but we ofcourse always cheer for the happy ending. Don't worry Jennifer never disappoints because the love she provides always finds it way into her readers hearts at the end. :)

Murder Mi Amore (Jewels of the Night)

Murder Mi Amore (Jewels of the Night) - Cara Marsi Murder Mi Amore is a great mystery romance novel. The author Cara Marsi has done a great job of building a very exciting story of danger and hidden deceptions at every corner. Can Lexie and Dominic work through their suspicions and uncover the truth? I couldn't wait to find out! Love, adventure and happy endings, you can't go wrong!

Ghost Layer

Ghost Layer - Robin D. Owens I received a print and digital copy of this book from Berkley and Netgalley.

Ghost Layer is a book I will have to read more than twice to catch all the minor details and differences between this paranormal write and others I've read of Robin's work in the past.
Robin Owens has always been a fabulous writer but it seems that the more she writes the better she gets. Her work is always fresh and always new and always unique. Ghost Layer is no different.
She adds quirky twists to her plots and her characters, but I like that she doesn't just give them free reign. She creates limitations for them and gives them a realism that isn't often found in other works by other authors. Usually they are given limitless abilities and can do anything but with Robin, she gives them limitations and she restrains them so that they have a chance to grow and develop along with the readers. I can respect that kind of creativity. I thought Ghost Layer was special and unique and I will continue reading Robin's work in the future.

Dark Blood

Dark Blood - Christine Feehan I received a print and digital copy of this book from Berkley and Netgalley.

I really have mixed feelings about Dark Blood. There is so much to both love and hate about the story. As a long time fan who has been reading every single one of Christine's books since the beginning I've noticed that as time goes on I find myself impressed that she is able to continue writing the same series after so many books and still continue to find new characters and new plots to write about. I respect that creative ability considering how difficult writing can be, especially when one writes so well. However I felt that the last few books she has put out hasn't been as up to par as her previous books. The series doesn't have the same feel and neither do my favorite characters. They don't have the same heart or the same integrity. Her male Carpathians were epic heroes that you could fantasize about and compare a man to, now they just make me cringe.
I am hoping that the downward spiral she is sending my favorite characters on is coming to a point because I have found myself too disappointed. Still, I follow along because I am such a fan and deep down, I am not quite ready for the series to end. Then again maybe she ought to end it while its still good. Never really know. I still finished the book and liked seeing familiar faces of my favorites unfortunately I didn't care for Zev or Bron.

Midnight Action

18141689

Rival

Rival - Penelope Douglas I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

Okay... I'm really not sure what to say about this book. I was lost right from the beginning since I guess its a continuation of a previous book I had no idea about. Being lost on background information the whole time or that as much as the step sibling incest and the demented family problems I really couldn't get a grounding or a foot hold in this story.
Its not poorly written at all because its done well but the story itself threw me for a loop. The sex although disturbing content wise is if it weren't so gross is written in a sexy manner.
The author is a great writer obviously but I just couldn't get into the story. I'd be willing to try to read the book again once I've read the first book but I think the topic more or less pulled me out of my comfort zone and put me into the awkward corner.

Only

20893373

I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

So.... This book really felt like adults acting like kids trying to act like adults. The sex was more mundane than enticing but its an easy simple read without anything that stood out to me. The characters were flat and there wasn't much that made sense since again I found myself reading a book mid point in a series in which the information of the prior books was fundamental to the understanding of the current situation our characters found themselves in. Only almost wound up in my DNF pile except that it was paced enough to allow me to finish despite the bipolar nature of Kyra's personality.

Frayed

Frayed - Kim Karr I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

Where to begin? I'd suggest at the beginning. I had no idea when I started this book that it was part of a series. I suppose I should have paid attention but oh well.
I tried to get into the book unfortunately it wound up in my DNF pile because the story, the characters and the plot were entirely lost on me. I don't know if it was because I was missing most of the background history or details but I just couldn't seem to stick it out to find out what happened for the two kids Ben and Bell.

Love Bites

Love Bites - Angela Knight I received a print and digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley and Netgalley.

Angela Knight is one of those authors you can read over and over and never get enough. Her writing never gets boring or repetitive, and her characters are always new and unique. I love her stories and her writing because no matter what she is writing she puts her full talent into her work and lets her readers know that she's invested in the tale she is weaving. Her brilliance to create worlds and relationships so lush and so special they never cease to amaze me.
Her love scenes are so hot and her couples are so combustible and whats more is that they flow together so naturally that her stories and characters come together beautifully.
I always enjoy reading Angela's work and I always look forward to reading more in the future.
Way to go and thank you Angela for writing yet another phenomenal book!

Night's Honor

Night's Honor - Thea Harrison I received a print and digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley and Netgalley.

I have plenty of mixed feelings about Nights Honor, I suggest reading the previous books to get some background plot fill in so that the minor details aren't so confusing. The story overall was fairly decent, the characters didn't quite seem to intrigue me until the story was almost over but I think it could be a pre build up for the next book coming in the series and it just became the filler story to get you to the next installment since for the most part it just felt as if most of the characters were just going through the motions. There is however plenty to enjoy since it is well written and there is plenty of detail the author adds to her world to keep the reader entertained enough to want to know more. I did enjoy a slow build to the relationship even though it was a tad too slow but I've grown a little bored of the instant relationship with no reason behind it so if you enjoy a slow paced read Nights Honor does well to fulfill that need.

Claudine

Claudine - Barbara Palmer I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

Claudine to me felt like a Ya romance trying to be an NA that resulted with an Adult Erotic theme and content with a 50 Shades of Grey naivete. It wasn't a bad story, I couldn't get into the characters even though there was supposed to be a deeper story webbed in Maria/Claudine's history even though we don't get too much of an honest depth to that journey. Plenty of vivid well detailed sex scenes due to the fact that she's an escort but not much emotion to be found in any of it. I wish there had been more detail and more information for the reader to gain from it but the story just sort of fell flat for me.

Flight from Hell (An Otherworld Novella)

Flight from Hell (An Otherworld Novella) - Yasmine Galenorn I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley/Netgalley.

Fans of Yasmine's Otherworld will enjoy this newest book Flight From Hell since we get a continuation of the series in the newest Sisters of the Moon book.
We get to meet both new and old places and people as we follow along with new and familiar faces. Old fans will get a taste of what will be to come in the following books in this series and new fans will easily be able to catch on since Yasmine does a fabulous job retouching on who everyone is and what is going on so that new readers won't be lost if they want to begin with this book.
I really like authors that fill in for their new readers but fans that are will versed in Yasmine's Otherworld will feel a bit of repetition. I really liked getting to meet the D’Artigo sisters, who are intriguing and filled with both a spark and more than a bit of attitude. Its great. I know readers both new to Yasmine's work and readers that have been fans since the beginning will enjoy this short read.

Hunters (Demon Series Part One)

Hunters (Demon Series Part One) - Aoife Marie Sheridan I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a series I'm going to have to add to my personal collection. I really hope the author adds print books to her work because I'd love to have them on my shelves. The first Hunters book is a great beginning to a kick ass series. The author has done a fantastic job creating a unique and special story with a new take on the paranormal world. Hunters is a fascinating and all consuming story that I couldn't get enough of. Aoife writes beautifully I look forward to reading more work by this author.

Unbinding

Unbinding - Eileen Wilks I received a print and digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

Wow. Just wow.
I really wish I had begun this series at the beginning but now this book has given me reason to find them so I can add them to my collection.
Although I spent most of the time very confused and very lost the author doesn't leave her readers guessing too much because she touches on some prior details but for the most part readers really need to invest in the previous books so that they can fully understand the workings of the world and the plot that the story is entrenched in.
Eileen is a master craftswoman when it comes to creating magnificent worlds and characters because she really packs a wallop of information and suspense and intense detail you can't help but quickly become entrenched in.
You love the baddies but they're just so wonderfully thrilling and so well developed and you cheer for the goodies because you love them and you want them to win.
I am dying to add this series to my collection at home because I have discovered a new favorite! Thank you Eileen for bringing us something so fantastic!

Rules for a Proper Governess

Rules for a Proper Governess - Jennifer Ashley I received a print and digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley and Netgalley.

Rules for a Proper Governess is a book you can easily imagine becoming one of those inspirational Lifetime movies they play on tv because its just one of those amazing, heart warming, life affirming type films that brings you a sense of love, hope and home.
I was surprised to find that I was more enraptured with Bertie than I was with Sinclair, but then again so was he I think. Its wonderful to watch the blooming of discovery as a family learns that sometimes what it needs is just the right person to walk into your life to set things right.
I feel that Bertie is just as good for both Caitlin and Andrew as she is for Sinclair and the readers. She is a wonderful woman that really tugs at your heartstrings and makes you wish that life were more like Jennifer's stories. Wonderfully done.

Sci-fi Nights: Alpha bad boys & wild girls of futuristic romance

Sci-fi Nights: Alpha bad boys & wild girls of futuristic romance - Calinda B, Cathryn Cade, Jessa Slade, Bianca D'Arc, Mina Carter I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Sci-Fi Nights is an anthology of stories DARK RUNNER, LODESTAR SERIES, BOOK 3.5 BY CATHRYN CADE, ASSASSIN’S HUNGER, SHEERSPACE BOOK 3 BY JESSA SLADE, HEADSPACE BY CALINDA B, END OF THE LINE, JIT’SUKU CHRONICLES BY BIANCA D’ARC, and LIKING IT RUFF BY MINA CARTER.

All of the novellas are strong stories I felt could have been great if they'd been written as full novels because of how much I enjoyed each of the characters all the authors wrote and how attached I became to the worlds they created. Jess, Cathryn, Calinda, Bianca and Mina are all phenomenal writers with the talent for creating books that you just can't let go of and have the amazing ability to leave lasting impressions on their readers long after they turn the last page. Sci-Fi Nights is no exception. Each of the short stories stand out from eachother and all of them carry the authors signature traits. For me in each one felt much too short. Because I enjoyed it so much I wanted them to continue on and I wanted more of them, but as they say all great things must come to an end some time. Each of the tales are sexy and full of heat despite being so quick they do well to give you a nice humm in your yummy place.

Undead and Unwary

20775055

I received a print and digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

Finally! The book I've been waiting for! The Undead Series is finally reaching maturity!
I have always loved Betsy and this series but there was always just a smidge too much immaturity to really hook me in and give me cause to fall in love. It just wasn't there because it hadn't achieved that stage in its development yet. I was beginning to think that it wouldn't come for a long time if at all but MaryJanice must have anticipated my hopes because this time readers get to see more developing more adult and more mature version of Betsy. Still the same her because we still get to have that spunky and flawed chick we've come to love but in Undead and Unwary there is a step in the right direction that tells us that just as we all do the Undead series is growing up too.
I absolutely loved it. Less drama and childish antics and more seriousness to pull us in deeper into the journey. I can't wait until the next book arrives. It can't come soon enough.

The Billionaire or the Cowboy

The Billionaire or the Cowboy - Vicki Lewis Thompson I received a print and digital copy from Berkley/ NAL in exchange for an honest review.

The Perfect Man is a story about three friends that have their own versions of "the perfect man" who all go their own way and find their own happy endings despite the fact that their lives are far from perfect and pursue love in places they never quite thought they would find it.
The Perfect Man has heart and more than a few laughs in store. I enjoyed getting to read the light hearted story Vicki has created. Good for a warm and fuzzy cuddle read, The Perfect Man will suit anyone looking for love.

Falling In

Falling In - Lydia Michaels I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

Falling In is a part of the Surrender Trilogy and is the first book in the series. I am glad I started at the beginning because I can't imagine trying to begin the next book at the mid point of where it semi ended. Although there technically was a decent ending there are quite a few hooks in the story left open so I'm assuming those are carried over into book two. Falling In for me really felt like a mix of the movies Maid in Manhattan and Pretty Woman without the prostitution or the kid. Its a great story, I really enjoyed both the main characters Evelyn and Lucian and I really enjoyed them as a combo double punch because they play off eachother so well. I liked getting to see Lucian "wake up" so to speak and I really liked getting to see Evelyn as she finds her way from the streets to finding her way through life and love.

Hope Burns

Hope Burns - Jaci Burton I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Berkley.

I liked getting to see the come home again to find your way back to what you left behind of your heart. I enjoyed Carter very much through the story but Molly on the other hand really annoyed me. I didn't understand what gave her such low self esteem and made her so damn childish. All the time was self doubt and confidence bashing that after awhile it became so repetitive that I often found myself becoming frustrated with her enough to shake the book. Carter was wonderful and had so much heart that despite Molly not feeling worthy of love he still pursued her even after she constantly rebuffed his affections no matter how often you just wanted to tell her to wake the hell up and see what she has in front of her. Its great writing on Jaci's behalf, its quite impressive that as a writer she is able to create such multidimensional characters. Hope Burns is a good story and is enjoyable to read when you're looking for a book with a lot of heart.

Honor's Price

Honor's Price - Alexis Morgan I received a print and digital copy from Berkley and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I always love Alexis Morgan books, she is one of the best writers out there and has the uncanny ability to blend genres and not miss a beat.
Her characters are always perfect, the romance is just right and the worlds she creates are always breathtakingly real. I always enjoy the personalities of her characters because every one of them is different, stands out, and is always one of a kind. They know how to reach into your heart and connect to the place where there is a part of you hoping to be one of those heroines or longing to fall in love with her heroes.
I totally plan on adding the rest of the series to my book shelves at home. If you haven't had a chance to read Alexis Morgan I highly recommend it.

The Sweetheart Secret

The Sweetheart Secret - Shirley Jump I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

The Sweetheart Secret was my first Shirley Jump book that I've read and although it wasn't fly by the seat of my pants over the top filled with excitement, it was a nice read about "Coming home" and finding where one's heart truly lies.
I enjoyed reading Colton and Daisy's reunion and getting to be a part of their journey as they found their way back to the flame they lit together.
It was fun, had plenty of funny moments but to me is worth more because of the heart warming good feels it gave me while reading it.
I look forward to reading more by Shirley in the future.

The Accidental Abduction

The Accidental Abduction - Darcie Wilde I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

The Accidental Abduction was a nice story, a bit slow paced with equally slow build up but its a story that can be read over a day while you're cuddled up on the couch. Leannah and Harry aren't quite right for eachother but they're thrown into a marriage so that she can save her sick family that she cares for. I can sympathize with someone that is thrown in crazy situations because of those same issues so I could relate to the stresses of what Leannah was going through and I liked the strength and the sexiness of Harry - who in no way resembles the male model on the cover (a guy that looks like he's sixteen same as the female model) but don't let it fool you, it is for adults. The love scenes aren't overly steamy and there isn't much excitement but its a nice easy paced read when you're having a lazy day.

In His Sights

In His Sights - Jo Davis I received a print and digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley and Netgalley.

In His Sights is a Sugarland Blue book and third in the series. I would suggest reading the books in order even though the book can be stand alone much of the plot twists connect to the previous books in the series and may be a bit confusing for some as readers follow along to uncover mysteries surrounding poisonings and other crimes in Sugarland.
I really loved the banter between Chris and Robyn, their personalities really play off of eachother really well and despite the quick romance flare up it flows really well with the quickly intensifying suspense chapter after chapter.
In His Sights is a fantastic read and I plan on adding all the books to my personal collection. Jo Davis is wonderful!

The Hot Zone

The Hot Zone - Jayne Castle I received a digital and print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley and Netgalley.

Okay so this is a book you have to read from the beginning of the series. The Hot Zone is the 3rd book in the Rainshadow series and the 11th book in the Harmony/Arcane series (its a little confusing if you haven't been reading the other books to know why there are connections from previous installments) The Hot Zone follows Sedona after she is thrown into a catastrophe of a past it catches up with her attempting to remake her life and find a nice little niche for herself when surprise surprise more tragedy strikes, and of course the ex walks back onto the scene. Isn't that just like life? When things are going great all but who shows up?
I really loved Cyrus already so I found myself just a smidge partial. I loved how well a supporting hero he was and as a man that knew how to embrace and support a woman for who and what she was without stifling her or stepping on her shine.
I thought Jayne has done a great job creating a read that plays right into the Halloween season as well as the rest of the year and also dips a nod at her previous books for fans that have been through it for the long haul.

The Sweetest Summer

The Sweetest Summer - Susan Donovan I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I really enjoyed The Sweetest Summer, it was filled with heart and a depth that kept me coming back for more. I especially loved Clancy because he was one of the male hero figures that did his role so flawlessly and perfectly that I couldn't help but respect and love him. I also found myself really loving Evie because even though she's on the run with her niece, she's in that position for a reason. There is a purpose behind everything that is done and felt in the story and there is a heart melting welcome home kind of depth to it as well to remind readers that things come full circle when they are meant to be. I loved it.

SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Falcon

SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Falcon - Don Mann, Ralph Pezzullo I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

Hunt the Falcon is the third book in the Seal Team Six series and right off the bat Don has done a miraculous job constructing an emotional wrecking ball of a story. Its fly by the seat of your pants, mind numbing excitement mixed with realistic accuracy, and along with all the bat sh*t crazy thrill ride action there is a deeper undertone of emotion brought in that really connects the reader personally to the characters as they fight their way through yet another entourage of bad guys.
I love the way Don Mann writes his stories so well and with such great detail. I can honestly say that he is one of the best.

My Beautiful Enemy

My Beautiful Enemy - Sherry Thomas I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

My Beautiful Enemy was a really great book, but I felt that it dragged too much and had just a little too much angst in it however, it didn't prevent me from finishing or enjoying the story over all. I felt there was a lot of detail that the author did well to put into the book to bring the world around her readers to life - which I liked. The character interaction between Leighton and Catherine is a little disjointed and I didn't feel that the author really gave them a strong platform to build their relationship but again somehow it seems to flow in and through the story just enough to keep you wanting to know what happens next. I still liked the book and enjoyed reading it and I would still suggest it to others.

Harvest at Mustang Ridge

Harvest at Mustang Ridge - Jesse Hayworth I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

Harvest at Mustang Ridge is the 3rd book in the Mustang Ridge series. Fans of the series will definitely enjoy this one because the author is sure to include all the favorite characters from previous books, I suggest that anyone just starting out go back to read the first ones so that it gives them a better connection and understanding of the bond between the characters and the reasons behind what brought our main characters Krista and Wyatt together in the first place and why their actions and reactions are the way they are.
I felt the story was well written but as someone stepping in mid series it made it hard to follow but it didn't make me enjoy the story any less. Jesse writes very well and knows how to construct a great story.

The Highlander Next Door

The Highlander Next Door - Janet Chapman I received a print and digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley and Netgalley.

The Highlander Next Door is book 6 of the Spellbound Falls series.
There is plenty of light hearted sweet romance to be found between Birch and Niall, there is also quite a bit of serious undertone for readers to find in it as well.
Influenced by her environment and her past Birch has quite a bit of weariness when it comes to men but Niall is more than up to the task when it comes to proving that not every man can be measured by the same ruler. I loved the mix of both fantasy and contemporary because it gave the story just the right amount of glitter to keep things interesting.
Janet is a fantastic writer and knows how to write a wonderful romance full of well developed characters, plot and history. Birch found love and so did I. :)

Wickedly Dangerous

Wickedly Dangerous - Deborah Blake I received a print and digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley and Netgalley.

Wickedly Dangerous is the first book in the Baba Yaga series, the author Deborah Blake adds a new spin on the old mythology/fairytale by creating a group of hot women with their own stories to tell. In Wickedly Dangerous we get to follow Barbara as she joins sheriff Liam on a missing childrens case.
Wickedly Dangerous is fun, its full of sarcasm and comedy. I loved the interaction between Barbara and her dragon / dog and I especially enjoyed the clashing personalities between Barbara and Liam together. I felt it suited them well because it often allowed the tension building up in the story a release and gave the reader time to ride out the influx of anticipation beautifully.
I enjoyed reading Wickedly Dangerous and I look forward to reading more of the Baba Yaga books in the future!

Last Minute Customers

Last Minute Customers - Jessica E. Subject, Wizards In Publishing, Zee Monodee I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Last Minute Customers is a very short quickie. While there isn't much filler since it is a quickie readers need to keep that mind.
Its very much like those Ellora's Cave Naughty Nooner type stories where the whole purpose is for the yummy interaction.
While there could have been just a smidge more what readers get is still tasty. Easily read for anyone that don't have time to read full length novels or anyone that has a busy life.

Payback

Payback - Shyla Colt I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Again readers get to see Demon at both his best and his worst as he faces challenges that test both his ability to keep things intact at home and with his club. There is more bonding between him and Ardy but not as much as I'd hoped to see, still we get to watch her stand strong next to Demon and carry herself as a worthy female the readers will enjoy cheering for.

Dual Desires: A Red Hot and BOOM! Story

Dual Desires: A Red Hot and BOOM! Story - Shyla Colt, Red Hot and BOOM! I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

I am impressed with how much I enjoyed Dual Desires because lately all the MC themed romances have been getting so played out that every book reads the same as the rest. However Shyla has done a great job creating something unique that doesn't read like the rest and its got something that I wish the author had really built on more because she did it so well. The characters were the type of people you really felt for. Its sexy, its sweet and there is just a smidge of fuzz for the soft at heart.

Crave

Crave - Bonnie Bliss I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow... Wow. Wow. Wow.... Bonnie Bliss, where did you come from?
Every time I read a book by Bonnie I am always amazed. I always find myself amazed by her creativity and her imagination. How she does it so well I don't know but she has captured me. I don't know how she manages to create stories so thoroughly detailed and characters that just grab you by the "balls and the heart strings" that dig deep on a fundamental level. Her stories aren't just sexy smut and fluff either. They have meaning and a deep core seriousness in them too. I think Crave was one of my favorites so far of Bonnie's books. Its hot, its sexy, its intriguing, and its addicting. Bonnie is a strong writer I know is going to rise up in the ranks fast.

Lover Claimed

Lover Claimed - A.M. Griffin I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

The author makes it easy for new readers to catch on for those that are starting with the second book in the series since AM makes sure to fill in the extra background information new readers may be missing and in a positive way includes it without it being repetitive or annoying. I especially liked Meisha because who doesn't love a tough chick that's willing to stick it out and stand out and stand strong among males who do a wonderful job of dominating the pages. I love that AM creates a female that can hold her own and think for herself and still stand out as feminine on top of it all. You just don't get too much of that in stories like this these days. I totally dig the strong female with strong heart and strong passions that include a strong mind. Its great. Every character stands out as an individual and they all have their moment to shine.
AM is a great writer and I look forward to reading more in the near future! Another great addition of the WE series!

Shadow Wars Homebound

Shadow Wars Homebound - Ursula Sinclair I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from the author.

I had a blast reading Shadow Wars. I'm convinced that I really need to get deeper into the Sci genre more often because Ursula has done an impressive job bringing to life all her colorful characters and her very impressive world.
Its funny how difficult it is to create so many realistic descriptions and intense plots for readers to enjoy that doesn't sound like something they've read from a thousand other authors, yet Ursula does it so well it seems as if it comes naturally to her.
Shadow Wars Homebound is the first book I've read by the author but I am so impressed and I enjoyed the story so well that I will be looking forward to reading more by her in the near future.
Way to go Ursula Sinclair for creating such a complicated world for the rest of us to enjoy and making it look so easy!

Night Storm

Night Storm - Tracey Devlyn I received a digital copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved Night Storm because it was so perfectly filled with mystery, excitement and just the right pinch of longing and love to bring readers a heart thumping good read.
I really liked that the author appreciated the concept of not all is as it seems and all good things are worth the wait, because she fulfills both of them so well.
Cameron and Charlotte are wonderful together. Right from the start you totally feel for them and the journey that they're on and its great how the author brought them back to eachother once again. Love stories with a reunite is always tricky but she pulls it off fabulously.
Night storm is romantic, suspenseful, and vivid. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Stone Ram

22747446

I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from the author.

Stone Ram is a continuation of the Leopard King Saga and can be read in order or by itself.
This installment seemed less historical and more sci/fantasy with the reader base geared more YA than NA however I thought the characters still played out strong, the plot twists continue to carry weight through the story and TA prepared to keep his readers interest always introduces something fresh and new to keep fans drawn in. I would say it could fit for either YA or Adult readers alike.
Another enjoyable read from TA. :)

Lay It Down

Lay It Down - Cara McKenna I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from NAL

Okay, I have to admit this was a book I judged by the cover. What can I say? Its hot.
Next thing is, I am a little confused because I assumed when I saw the series "Desert Dog" / (guy on bike) and the "fast, loud, and rough - on a bike or in a bed. its the only way to ride" slogan, I assumed I was going to read an MC romance.
I was thrilled because Cara McKenna is a fab writer, so right away I was ecstatic. Except that its not an MC book. Although depicted as an outlaw king and is implied to be connected to such elements you don't really get any of those. So I was a tad disappointed.
However, you get a decent murder mystery romance with lots of good heat, great characters, thrill and plot twists to keep you more than entertained. Cara is a great author that creates an exciting story.

Hillbilly Rockstar

Hillbilly Rockstar - Lorelei James I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

Hillbilly Rockstar was an alright read, although it was for the most part cheesy, I couldn't quite get into the rock hard body super body guard female and the overly sensitive male pining for her love thing, the sex was decent and the story overall wasn't too bad. I didn't feel that zing when the characters meet and couldn't seem to understand how the two really meshed together but opposites attract in this one. Hillbilly Rockstar is well written and decent enough to get into when you're looking for the role reversal relationship in western contemporary romance.

Sheikh's Scandal (The Chatsfield)

Sheikh's Scandal (The Chatsfield) - Lucy Monroe Goodreads Firstreads

Lucy Monroe is a strong writer which is why I believe in her work because I've read many others before, and while this one had some heavy cheese to go with the wine some of it was a bit hard to swallow until skipping through some of those sections there was something worth finding redeeming but not quite enough to fulfill my hunger for a stronger more satisfying story. It wasn't poorly written or executed, just not quite believable enough to be thrilled over. Still, its three out of five and worth the read.

No Attachments

No Attachments - Tiffany King I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

I enjoyed the story No Attachments, it had enough heart in it to be one of those fuzzy type of stories although I didn't feel it needed to be an NA genre, I felt if it had been geared more for the Adult genre it would have fit better in both content and the story to allow the characters to be more mature. I didn't feel the extra background story and plot were necessary even though it tested the characters. It was interesting to see how something that wasn't meant to be serious created a more serious relationship for them. The story was interesting and as a whole is worth the read.

The Man Plan

The Man Plan - Tracy Anne Warren I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from NAL

Another three star book to add to the pile. I don't typically judge a book by the cover but seeing as how the model looks like hes fourteen for a YA/NA romance that's supposed to be "steamy" and is revolved around twenty year olds it makes a little difficult to get into.
Maybe I am just getting too old for that mentally geared genre but one can never know until you get into the story, which was decent and the characters albeit a bit immature (had a fifty shades of grey immaturity to it) still had decent build up and follow through. The story itself was enjoyable enough if you can over look some of the drag on silliness but all in all it was a decent read.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane

The Ocean at the End of the Lane - Neil Gaiman I received a print copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Ocean at the End of the Lane is one of the best books I've read since The Book Thief. Neil Gaiman is an extraordinary author that pulls you into his story and delves deep into his character and emotion pool to open up and awaken a past and a future where both wait in the middle.
I read this book four times in a row because each time I found something new. A new perspective, a new emotion, a fresh view on the journey and a tie to the emotions and the history involved.
Discover it, pass it on, share it, Ocean at the End of the Lane is a wonderful story.

Hunt the Scorpion: A SEAL Team Six Novel

Hunt the Scorpion: A SEAL Team Six Novel - Don Mann, Ralph Pezzullo I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I really love reading the Seal Team Six books... Every time I get into the characters in Don's books I feel like I'm reading a movie for the Expendables with as much personality and action are jam packed in the pages.
There is so much detail, and realism as well as genuine honest frankness that nothing is really over the top at all. Even those that can't understand military jargon or have difficulty picking up a book that's involved in that world, the author does a fantastic job bringing it down to Earth so that any reader can easily slip into the world and follow right along.
Don Mann is thrilling, and talented. I can't wait to see what's in store for the next installment.

Guarded

Guarded - Mary Behre Guarded is the second book in the Tidewater series, you should definitely read the first book in the series but its not vital to understanding this book, however it will give you that extra background on characters so just a heads up.

I thought at first the book sounded just a little bit cheesy but I decided to give it a try and I am glad I did. The author creates such genuine and honest people that you start to believe this is who they are and this is how they feel. They aren't corrupted, they aren't totally lost or completely tarnished but there's more than meets the eye with both Shelly and Dev.
I really enjoyed that the story had a decent amount of suspense and mystery but it was centered on our characters and their bond. I haven't gotten that with many of the books I have been reading these days, so its good that we get to see that in Guarded.

I really enjoyed the read and will be checking out this series for more installments in the future, I highly suggest this book to anyone looking for a great read that is well written with wonderful characters, and a unique story line.

Bound to Danger: A Deadly Ops Novel

Bound to Danger: A Deadly Ops Novel - Katie Reus I received a print copy from Berkley in exchange for an honest review

There's no way you can go wrong with Katie Reus. Her books and her characters are the best. You feel for Maria and Cade. Their relationship is believable, their journey is one with several complexities that even includes villains you can't help but feel for.
The love journey is filled with ups and downs and no matter where you enter in this installment Katie keeps you right up with where they stand.
Trilling romance, heat, and suspense~ Katie is a genius that is completely in her element.

Shelter Me

Shelter Me - Catherine Mann I received a print copy from Berkley in exchange for an honest review

Shelter Me is for sure one of those curl up for a fuzzy emotion fed romance reads.
Catherine explores beyond just our main characters to the family and its history. Readers get to explore their ties and their emotions and the journey they have been on together and individually. Its both a tear jerker and a content sigh and blanket hug type of book.
Those kind of books are always difficult for me to read because they are written so well that once it finds that place in my heart and the tears start to flow its difficult to stop.
I really enjoyed this book and I will return to The Second Chance Ranch very soon.

Shatter

Shatter - Erin McCarthy I received a print copy from Berkley in exchange for an honest review

I actually liked this book better the last few ones that Erin has put out. I'm not sure if it was because I could sympathize with the cheating but I stuck with this one to the end. The characters were more likable, more mature e and more realistic. I enjoyed it.

Unbroken

Unbroken - Maisey Yates I received a print copy from Berkley in exchange for an honest review

Unbroken is a definite feel good read. Grab a cup of coffee and settle into your favorite comfy chair, this a book that you will want to sit through from beginning to end.
Unbroken is the third book of the Silver Creek books but it can be read separately, however there is some history with several characters you will find in previous books you may want to explore, but its not necessary to read them to follow along. One thing I will say aside from the warm fuzzies for a sexy country boy... there is some serious honest depth to be found in our characters that go beyond just the usual surface stuff.

Turn Up the Heat: Love Won't WaitBeach House BeginningsStrong Enough to Love

Turn Up the Heat: Love Won't WaitBeach House BeginningsStrong Enough to Love - Lori Foster, Christie Ridgway, Victoria Dahl A friend sent this book my way and I ended up moving before I could find the book again so here's what I thought of it.

I usually love Lori Foster anthologies, however this one seemed to build up then fall flat.
I didn't feel that usual zing I get from the installments that are included in the anthology either. I still read the book and think its worth a read but I felt that it was missing its usual flare.
Ofcouse it won't deter me from reading more of her anthologies in the future but I sure hope that next time we get some better character and relationship development from her next one.

Taking It All

Taking It All - Maya Banks I received a print copy from Berkley in exchange for an honest review

Holy cow Maya has broken through the erotic bindings and lit a flame in this installment.
Taking it All is hot, sexy, and romantic. But what's more is that we get to see a realistic view on how even the most passionate relationships can turn into everyday normalcy where the passion dwindles down and that one thing tests the limits of tolerance. Do you let go or hold on with everything you got to fight for what you love?
I really enjoyed getting to go along for the ride in this installment of the Surrender Trilogy, Maya Banks is fantastic.

Dust of My Wings

Dust of My Wings - Carrie Ann Ryan I have to give author Carrie Ann Ryan mad props for exploring a new unique take on paranormal romance. I really loved getting to see how magic lives in all of us and being a part of how it awakens in Lily.
I especially loved Lily and Shade together. A sexy winged creature that rides a motorcycle, what could be hotter?
Maybe say their love life? Oh yes. I mean have you seen the cover? Yum.
There's plenty of complications that build up the anticipation for suspense and a happy ending.
I enjoyed getting to be a part of the journey that Lily and Shade take as they both find their way in Dust of my Wings.
I can't wait to see what happens next. Come on Ambrose!

Powerless Against You

Powerless Against You - Gail Simone, Elizabeth Gannon, K Orion Fray, Andrea R. Blackwell, Jacklyn Baker, Agustin Guerrero, Jade Black, Kara Costegan, Kim Strattford, ME McLaughlin, Alice Hare Goodreads Firstreads

I rated Powerless Against You four stars because although much of it was pretty tame and didn't really keep my attention for long periods of time I feel the book really is owed some decent kudos for the unique characters and relationships that have been included. Its not every day you see them in stories so I felt some mad respect for the fact that it was placed so well.

Highlander Avenged

20563751

Goodreads Firstreads

Highlander Avenged is the second book in the series and while many books are written independently and can stand alone I really feel that reading the first books is vital to understanding and sympathizing with the characters. Although I really enjoyed that both characters had loyalties to their own people and were willing to sacrifice despite how they felt for eachother I was glad to see that I wasn't let down.
I will be looking for the first and the next book in the series so that I can enjoy it as a whole.

Dreams of Perfection

Dreams of Perfection - Rebecca Heflin There's something to be said for characters that come with flaws. It makes them more realistic, and easier to relate to. That's what I found in Dreams of Perfection.
I mean, who hasn't had the experience of a broken heart that led them to be just a tad over cautious of approaching yet another potential heart ache?
That's what I really loved about getting to know Heflin's characters because they are so much like many of us trying to find their way through the minefield that is both life and love.
Dreams of Perfection is just the right amount of honesty and reality to make the journey worth it.

Solace Shattered: Book II Solace

Solace Shattered: Book II Solace - Anna Steffl I'm actually quite impressed with this book, I wasn't expecting to like it but the author- Anna did a fabulous job creating really interesting characters, a decent plot and a story that draws you in and keeps you reading from beginning to end. Not only is the fantasy half and the world she creates unique on its own, I wasn't expecting all the seduction play.
I am quite smitten at this point and now I'm going to have to read all this books in this series because now I want to know what happens next.
Well played Anna... Well played.
:)

Brought To His Knees

Brought To His Knees - A.M. Griffin, Amy Ruttan, Cynthia D'Alba, Danica Avet, Felice Fox, Jennifer Kacey, Lynne Silver, Sabrina York, Sayde Grace, Tina Donahue, Anya Richards I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Brought To His Knees is an erotic anthology with the novellas by A.M. Griffin (Dark Wolf Enterprises), Amy Ruttan (Building Bridges), Anya Richards (Three Strikes), Cynthia D'Alba (A Cowboy's Seduction), Danica Avet (Born To Sin), Felice Fox (The Sound Of Your Name), Jennifer Kacey (Beneath The Pages), Lynne Silver (Cruising For Love), Sabrina York (Whipped), Sayde Grace (Chief Sin), and Tina Donahue (Make Me Surrender).
Brought to His Knees is a serious mix of heady adult erotic romance filled with paranormal/nonparanormal, western, thriller and contemp, M/F, M/F/M, M/M novellas written by a group of authors that pack a punch on every page.
One after the other each installment fills your heart, seduces you, excites you, and makes you fall in love.

I have to admit I was taken from the get go and I couldn't get enough. I really hope to see more from all of these authors because what they have to offer is phenomenal. Just the right amount of build up, romance and fun as well as well developed characters to keep you wanting more. I really wish all these stories had been full novels because I wanted so much more but alas we can't always have too much of a good thing.

Be warned the sex is hot and it may very well burn up in your hands.

I am really glad I got the chance to read this book because I've discovered many great tales, worlds and new authors to love. I can't wait to discover more from them in the future.

Palmetto Moon

Palmetto Moon - Kim Boykin I received a print copy from Berkley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading Palmetto Moon, there just aren't enough books these days that write about strong female characters that take charge of their lives and stand outside of what their social circles say should be done. I really enjoyed the fact that Vada knew what she didn't want and took the initiative to do something about it by taking herself out of the equation. Its a great thing getting to see her stand on her own and find her way as many of us in the real world have had to do. What I liked best was getting to see her have to face her past and decide where she was truly meant to be. Was she meant to leave or meant to stay?
Palmetto Moon is well written and written from a genuine place emotionally where you don't have to worry about false pretenses. I absolutely enjoyed it.

V!RG!N

V!RG!N - Radhika Sanghani I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley.

I really wanted to like this book unfortunately it landed in the DNF pile. I could not relate at all to the immaturity and naivete of the characters. I would have understood if the character was a child but she was an adult that more or less had the mentality of a child. It was off putting and kept me from being able to enjoy the story because it was so distracting due to how many times the dilemmas were reiterated over and over.

Sneakers, Sandals & Stilettoes: Fairy Tales for the Well-Heeled Princess

Sneakers, Sandals & Stilettoes: Fairy Tales for the Well-Heeled Princess - Natasha Deen Unfortunately I can't rate the book since it wound up in my DNF pile. Written well enough but not good enough that it kept my interest. Too cheesy for my taste.

Vampire Vacation

Vampire Vacation - C.J. Ellisson Vampire Vacation totally cracked me up. Voyeur to the max for real.
I enjoyed the clash of personalities because you get such a broad mix between the characters. They're all horrible and great which made me like them even more. CJ is a strong writer that creates a world of characters that grow on you even when you find yourself glancing around to see if anyone has noticed all the shifting you're doing in your seat.
I thought it was hilarious that the hot vacation spot was in Alaska because - remote? Sure. Sexy? Eh. But you soon forget where you are because you're drawn into the spy cam view :) Holy firsts.
I am interested to see where the rest of the series goes.

If Memory Serves

If Memory Serves - Tanya Goodwin I felt the story was a little odd but somehow it kept me interested and reading until I got through the entire book. It wasn't until after I finished that I discovered that extreme stress really can cause it. Who knew?
I thought the author did a great job creating a story with enough detail and enjoyable character personalities to keep me entertained. I'd totally give her future books a look.

Fate War: Alliance

Fate War: Alliance - E.M. Havens A friend of mine told me about this book so I thought I'd check it out.
This book totally worked for me. I loved the writing, I enjoyed the characters and the plot and the steam punk totally fit in well. (There were a few flaws easily over looked.) I loved the personalities and the unique world the author creates. Its great and new, I applaud the author for doing it so well. I hate that you are left on a hook because I want to know more. But hey, gives you a reason to read the next one. So I shall.

Kiss of Moonlight

Kiss of Moonlight - Stephanie Julian I enjoyed the read, although there were quite a few things that left me more confused than resolved by the end. However the story was decent and the characters were strong and the writing was done well so it didn't prevent me from enjoying the book except I could have used a glossary on a few things. Kiss of Moonlight is hot and full of Ellora Cave steaminess.

The Virgin's Guide to Misbehaving

18143104

I received a print copy from Berkley/ NAL in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately I can't post a review because it was a book that wound up in my DNF pile. I think I was expecting something completely different and got so hyped by the blurb that by the time I read the book everything fell flat for me. The writing was great, and I liked that the characters weren't perfect, they had flaws but the uncomfortable awkwardness of the character personalities and their interactions was hard to get over.

Paradise Falls

Paradise Falls - Ruth Ryan Langan I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book because there was an issue that was brought up that irked me due to how it was handled however the story and the characters, the writing and overall everything Ruth has put into Paradise Falls is absolutely fantastic. I really enjoyed reading this story and I will be returning to this authors work in the near future.

Entwined Courage

Entwined Courage - Tracy Lane Entwined Courage was unique and creative enough to keep me entertained through the story, although I seem to be finding myself favoring YA/NA less and less lately I actually enjoyed reading this one. It needed some fleshing out but I thought it was done well enough that it didn't deter me from finishing it.

Edge of the Heat

Edge of the Heat - Lisa Ladew I felt this book had a lot of potential but there was so much missing that I couldn't get a good fix on what the heck was going on and why things were happening. I'm definitely going to have to read the whole series together to get a better fix on how I feel about it but at the moment I think that's all I can really say about it. It has potential.

Sentimental Journey (World War II series: When a Hero Comes Marching Home)

Sentimental Journey (World War II series: When a Hero Comes Marching Home) - Judith Laik I thought Sentimental Journey was a great book but there was some information I felt was vital to know that was missing and it kept me from enjoying it as much, I wish there had been a different ending as well but we can't always pick our endings. :) It was a great story with some decent heart to it and is worth the read.

Love Me Always

Love Me Always - Marie Higgins Although I felt the book needed some work, I have to respect the fact that writing is not an easy thing to do. Being able to create the characters and story that Marie has managed to do is pleasantly satisfying but there were a few things that left me wanting more because I became so interested. I hope that the gaps that were left get filled in. I look forward to seeing where Marie takes this series. Since I have several of the books in this series in my collection I will be reading them soon.

Gabriel's Mate

Gabriel's Mate - Tina Folsom
I received a print copy of Gabriel's Mate during a giveaway so I decided to post a review for it.

Where do I begin....

Gabriel... Gabriel... Gabriel... you are by far the very first flat out shocking surprise out of every single book I've ever read. Ever.
By the time I discovered the uh... unique "flaw" I was reading the book in a very public place.
My reaction? photo url.gif A little bit of stunned silence, then awareness came and I was wondering if anyone could see the same words I was reading. Had anyone seen the abrupt shock on my face? Titillation for Erotica fans galore because there is no one like Gabriel I've ever read about in my life.
Between my reaction and Maya's I don't know who was more surprised. Was it shock or delight? I'm not sure which, and by the time it got heated up? Well... photo 2.gif Let's just say you might want to save it for when you're alone.
I really enjoyed Maya's personality and when she discovers the "you know what" for herself she more than has just her hands full if you know what I mean. You seriously cannot help but keep reading more despite the shock because you're so curious as to what happens next.
How does Maya handle it?
 photo 8701124-1.gif
She totally rises to the task. Or shall I say Gabriel rises and Maya well... you get the point.

I had a blast reading this book. More than just the sex the characters are great, the plot is great and I really liked the world that Tina creates. I totally need to read the other books in the series though. I so need to read them. I need more.

Hey Tina! I'm a new fan!

Mortal Temptations

Mortal Temptations - Allyson James Okay... First off, I owe Allyson a REALLY big apology because she sent me this book a long time ago but I moved and things in my life got crazy so I had to track down the books she sent me so I could post the reviews since she sent them to me in exchange for a review, so Allyson I am REALLY sorry and I will get the other reviews up for Mortal Seductions and Wedding Favors up soon!

Mortal Temptations is the first book in the Mortal series.
Okay so, holy crap. If I could sum Mortal Temptations in a single word it would be BRAVE. Allyson really steps out of the comfort zone box and dives right into the squirm in your seat prod at your buttons kind of testing zone. I have to hand it to Allyson because she really takes EROTICA to a whole new level in this book and she does it without any restraint. You have to respect that kind of writing because it takes a lot of talent to pull off so flawlessly and without shame. I also give her mad props because she embraces writing for both M/F and the M/M, M/F/M fans.

Be aware, the sex scenes in this book are HOT. Like blisteringly explicitly hot.

That being said, I felt the story was more or less written around its sex scenes but if you can look beyond that and open your mind and comfort level to the creativity of who and what the characters are there is so much more uniqueness to be found. (Although there is an odd scene with the feathers. Find out for yourself.)
I have never read a book like this one before.
It is really hard to find a book that stands out so much as this one did because when an author writes about gods and the like its usually along the same mythology the same type of characters or "stereotyping" but Allyson has done none of those. She has created something completely new, and completely special.
However there were a few things that I felt weren't quite.. I'm not sure if "believable" is the word for it but it certainly made me think and tested my comfort levels on more than one occasion.
It really managed to give me a whole new respect for her writing talent and her capability to create something that really stands out.
There could have been more history or mythology written in to fill out more back story for the characters but what content was already added was already overwhelming as it is so I have to admit that anymore information to take in might have blown a readers mind.
I'm half way into the second book in the series and I can tell you that its going to be just as hot as the first!

Thank you Allyson for allowing me to read your work! You are a brilliant writer!

Devil's Game

Devil's Game - Joanna Wylde I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley/NAL

Devils Game is the third book in the Reapers MC series, and I totally need to read the previous books because this book includes a lot of characters and I am a back story monger so I really want to see what happened in the beginning with this crew of misfits. Devils Game was a fantastic story with the whole boy from the wrong side of the tracks kind of deal. Hunter is from a rival MC and and EM is the daughter of the Reaper MC's leader. (See where that's going? Yeah.) Although I felt the book could have fit in the NA genre as far as mentality the content is totally Adult geared. I really enjoyed Em as a female lead in this story because despite her "innocence" she's totally outspoken and when she wants something she goes for it. I like that. She doesn't take crap and she puts it out there point blank and right to the point. I was a little iffy about Hunter because.. Well, I can't tell you because that would give the story away. However he grew on me and I wound up really enjoying the banter between Hunter and Em. Devils Game is fun, its entertaining and there's more than just fluff in this story. Its building up to something big and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Naughty Bits Part III Bound to Please

Naughty Bits Part III Bound to Please - Joey W. Hill I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

I felt that the third installment was just as sexy as the first two, but I also felt there was a backing off from the Sub/Dom part of the relationship and a more forward progression into an emotionally intimate one. The less rash, less rough but no less sexy Joey is an explosively talented writer of many a fans love scenes. (They are steamy!) I finally feel a connection more than just the sex building for Madison and Logan into something that may be all together more emotionally fulfilling in the end.

Vipers Run

Vipers Run - Stephanie Tyler I received a print copy from Berkley/NAL and a digital copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I thought Vipers Run had a lot of interesting plot hooks, but the romance half of the story just never felt genuine to me. I felt there was a lot of build up for Calla and there was a lot of back story to fill in the blanks for Christian but the way their relationship started wasn't quite what I expected or believable. I won't say how because I don't want to give it away since its a part of how the story sort of begins to take off, but that's where most of the interesting writing ends.
Its not a bad book but there wasn't enough in it with the characters or the plot that really kept my attention. I wanted so much for there to be more than there was because I had such high expectations of Vipers Run but despite the issues I had connecting to the characters and believing in Calla and Christens relationship in the end it was still worth the read.

Forged in Ash

Forged in Ash - Trish McCallan, Luke Daniels I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review.

Forged in Ash is the second Red Hot Seals book in the series. I really liked this story, although there were quite a few things I didn't find believable and more than a few other things over bearing I did find heart in the characters and I like that kind of thing. Although I was a bit confused because I wasn't sure if the book was supposed to be Contemporary or Fantasy/ Paranormal because there were a few things that seemed to skirt close to the other genre, it pulled together well.
I wish I had gotten to see more development between the main characters Kait and Cosky because I felt the story was lacking the build up of intimacy between them despite the sex.
Overall I was happy with Forged in Ash but I felt there was quite a bit unresolved in the end so I am hoping that the next installment will tie that up.

Sweet

Sweet - Erin McCarthy I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley / NAL.

Sweet is the second book in the True Believers series. I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I felt the writing was strong, I enjoyed the interaction of the main characters when they were together but for me personally I didn't care for the mentality of Jessica and Riley bored me.
I felt the book was more YA geared with NA/Adult content in it, but overall the self centered immaturity and under developed understanding of adult relationships aggravated me. Erin is a wonderfully talented writer that is able to create believable characters and a believable story which exasperated me because I wanted so much to see Jessica come into herself and grow - which speaks volumes of how well Erin writes because writing something that real can be very difficult, even more so when you are tying to emit a certain emotion from a reader. I respect the woman as a creator. I'm impressed. I just couldn't seem to get into the story or the characters. It took me forever to finish the book and I almost didn't. All in all Sweet was an okay read but I don't think I will be reading more books from the series.

The Shy Bride

The Shy Bride - Lucy Monroe First off, Um... what?

Secondly, what the heck is going on with the PRESENTS series?

This is like the fifth Presents book I've read this month and each one... I can't even give a decent review. Lucy is such a good writer but this story just didn't make the finish reading cut. That's so sad because she's a great author.

Born

Born - Jenna McCormick Okay, first off, Borg? You couldn't have come up with something else? That was so distracting. (I'm a Star Trek fan, that was difficult to get past.)
Anyways. Now that I've ranted. Why couldn't you have given us so much more? I really liked this book and it had the potential to be so much more bigger than it was. I hope seeing that its only the first book of a series that the author expands on the main characters (Allora and Cormack) and especially the world that they're in.
I am so impressed with the new fresh point of view this author has in her plot (please give us more!) But I felt that a lot of it was downplayed when she could have blown holy amazeballs through the wall with it. I really hope we get more. (More sexy romance and build up too next time please.)

The Backworlds (Book 1)

The Backworlds (Book 1) - M. Pax It was difficult for me to rate this book because there were a few things I didn't like about it yet there was quite a bit that I did like.
I didn't care for the ending, and its not a space opera its just Sci-Fi/ Fantasy. However the author put a lot of effort into creating a story with enough world and character building to keep you interested. I do wish (again)that the ending had been executed more clearly or redone all together because it didn't have the same feel as the rest of the book. Still I liked it enough to finish it.

The Grail of Sir Thomas (The Knight and the Wonderer Book 1)

The Grail of Sir Thomas (The Knight and the Wonderer Book 1) - Yury Nikitin Okay first off, there are a lot of editing flaws in this book. However I could tell by the sheer amount of effort and world and character building the author used that the reader needed to look beyond those issues to find the gem within.
I really actually enjoyed this book despite how many errors there were. I really hope that one day that The Grail of Sir Thomas gets the attention it deserves since I think it would be a really great finish once it does. I gave it three stars because I believe the Grail of Sir Thomas has a lot of potential to be a five star book.

Waiting Game

Waiting Game - J.L. Ficks, J.E. Dugue, Thom Scott The waiting game was a decent story. The author put a lot of thought into the characters and the world he placed them in so that really made me enjoy the amount of detail he laid within it.
Its not overly thrilling but it was enjoyable enough to keep me interested until I finished it.

Undercover (Winged Enemy MC Romance Book 1)

Undercover (Winged Enemy MC Romance Book 1) - Olivia Ruin How do you not love this cover? Seriously. Yum. :)
Unfortunately the story wasn't as hot as its cover. Undercover wasn't a bad story, it works as a romantic fantasy not quite hot enough to be an erotic but its decent. Definitely not to be taken seriously but if you can look beyond that to the basic story of the characters and their relationship its an alright read so I gave it three stars.

Complicated Creatures (Part One)

Complicated Creatures (Part One) - Alexi Lawless I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from (Annette Stone) through BTSeReviews Magazine.

COMPLICATED CREATURES is a mesmerizing, labyrinthine romantic suspense that will leave you wondering: Do you really want to know everything about the one you love?

Krissy's Bookshelf Blog Tour Review:

I am so impressed with Alexi Lawless. Complicated Creatures had a serious Magic City build up for both the plot and the characters. I loved the intensity,
I love the personalities, and I especially loved all the mysterious back story and the build up that is hard to find in stories these days.
Alexi Lawless does a phenomenal job creating a story with so much life and detail that you can't help but want more. Alexi intelligently weaves a story every reader will love.
Alexi serves it up page after page and fills your plate with so many twists and excitement that you will be hooked instantly.
Although the first part in a series or serial I can't wait to see what comes next. job creating a story with so much life and detail that you can't help but want more. Alexi intelligently weaves a story every reader will love.

Air Bound

Air Bound - Christine Feehan I received a print copy from Berkley in exchange for an honest review.

I gave this book four stars because its written really well, and the graphic detail is so stomach turning that you have to respect that after so many books that she would have to amp it up to keep readers interested. It takes a lot of talent to be able to make readers squirm these days. However I expected to find that kind of dark gritty stuff in the GAME series not this one. Regardless Christine has written a fantastic book. Unfortunately there was so much about it I honestly didn't like. It took me several tries just to finish it which is more strange for me because I usually can't put her books down once I've started them. I really love the intensity of Christine's work and I really love that its not all just fluff and butter romance anymore. There is something real and vital to cling to. I just really wish I had gotten more of that intensity from her characters. Everything else was up to the max but what was going on with our characters? Both Airiana and Maxim felt as if they didn't even belong in the same story together much less in this story. I didn't care for either one of them or their personalities. I still respect the work Christine is doing and I will continue to read more of her work in the future but I was left feeling a bit out of sorts after reading this one.

Straddling the Line

Straddling the Line - Jaci Burton I received a digital copy from Netgalley and a print copy from Berkley in exchange for an honest review.

I was actually quite impressed with Straddling the Line. For all the sports fans you get some yummy fantasy and for non sports fans its still just as hot and not overwhelming at all. I really liked the childhood crush hook being instilled in the beginning and woven through the entire story. It really brings the reader into the characters emotional ties and gives them a history that they can really appreciate. Its not common to find that in books these days and I really liked that. The love scenes on top of the character interaction is so out of this world its mind blowing. Every book Jaci writes just gets better and better every time. I really enjoyed reading this book from the first line all the way to the last.

The Nightlife: Las Vegas

The Nightlife: Las Vegas - Travis Luedke The odd thing that really made an impression to me about this book wasn't really the story or the characters. It was the fact that it was like a vampire tale but with the added sort of characters learning to live or learning to experience life from a new perspective kind of deal.
It wasn't outstandingly impressive but it wasn't bad either. The Nightlife Las Vegas was pretty good and I'd say worth the read.

C791

C791 - Eve Langlais I'm not sure how he's supposed to be cyborg since he's actually human but with "alterations"
There isn't much to the plot or the story aside from amusing conversations once in awhile. The sex is hot though. I'm impressed by his well... yeah.
The only thing I was disappointed in was the fact that the plot seemed to sort of build up then fall flat but if you don't look too deep beyond the basic interaction its not too bad (if you can ignore some of the immaturity) Over all it was entertaining.

Panic

Panic - Nick Stephenson Decent thrillers are difficult to come by these days. Especially ones that keep the amp up all the way through the story - even with the amusing slightly comedic moments that should be horrifying or grotesque but I like that kind of thing. Call me deranged or whatever but it works.
I really enjoyed this one.

Wolves of Rome

Wolves of Rome - Christopher Lee Buckner This is a novel I wouldn't mind adding to my print shelf collection. I was impressed with the writing, the world building and the talent the author had to construct such an elaborate world with such detail. I wasn't expecting to like the Wolves of Rome so well but I am glad I did.

An Alpha's Kiss

An Alpha's Kiss - Evelyn Glass Another teen geared erotica that shouldn't be written for teens to begin with. I couldn't get into the story and the characters weren't working for me. Needs a lot of editing and a lot of work. It has the beginnings of a good idea but not much else. Another book for my DNF pile. :/

Reclining Nude in Chicago

Reclining Nude in Chicago - Fifi Flowers I won this book through a blog hop but I'm not sure which one since I wasn't informed as to who was hosting or doing the giveaway but coolies anyhow. An erotic decent length novel with the usual bump and grind goodness that goes with them. The characters for me were missing a certain pull that draws me into who they are and what they're doing and why but its decently written with enough lip smacking to please the reader.

Uncovering the Correttis

Uncovering the Correttis - Carol Marinelli I got Uncovering the Correttis from Amazon, it seemed interesting enough and with Harlequin books its almost always hit or miss but the story was decent for a short intro into the Sicily's Corretti Dynasty series. There could have been more character and background building since its supposed to be an introduction but all in all it was an alright read.

Too Close to the Sun

Too Close to the Sun - Robin T. Popp I cannot rave enough about this book. Robin has written a fantastic story with Too Close to the Sun. The plot twists and the characters kept me completely enthralled from beginning to end. I absolutely loved it. Its unique, its exciting, and its nothing like you've read yet.

Lady Starling's Stockings

Lady Starling's Stockings - Cerise DeLand Fantastic cover, a decent read. I actually liked it and was surprised by the depth added in it since it was a short story. Usually details that the author added are left out but she manages to bring it in quite well. Great sex, a decent story, likeable. Worth 3/4 stars. I'll be looking for more by this author in the future.

Taken by Two at the Clinic: A MMF Threesome Erotica Story

Taken by Two at the Clinic: A MMF Threesome Erotica Story - Kathi Peters A friend sent this book my way after she passed on it. I was amused by the porno cover- it gave me a laugh so I decided to give it a chance and that chance passed right along with my friends.
I just could not get into it. I can respect the work the author put into it and the thought she put into creating the "specialty erotica" - which can be difficult to do with an unrealistic plot.
But it felt um.. too much like a disjointed scene pulled from a porno that was put into a quick short for the heck of it. I've read penthouse forum books before and even those have been written better. The story isn't horrible but definitely not my cup of tea.

Mirror Amour

Mirror Amour - Jade Hart Jade has written a really fantastic story. It wasn't even the blurb that won me over. The tent on the cover did it for me. Okay so I am partial. Although I do not agree that this book should be categorized as a New Adult. In my opinion it needs to be placed in the Erotic Adult genre. (Maybe I'm getting old, I've been getting harsher about that distinction lately.) I liked the characters and the plot. Jade had done a wonderful job. Mirror Amour is a wonderfully written book and I really enjoyed the read.

The Italian's Inexperienced Mistress

The Italian's Inexperienced Mistress - Lynne Graham I was really looking forward to reading this book when it first came out and its very rare that I can't finish a book, unfortunately this one ended up in my DNF pile.

Embraced by a Warrior

Embraced by a Warrior - Marisa Chenery I liked this story but I wanted sooo much more from it. I get that its short and you have to pack so much into such little space but I have such a "hard on" for anything that has to do with Anubis that I think my expectation was a little too high and wound up more than a little disappointed. It wasn't a bad read but I will be looking to see if there are more in case it gets better with future installations.

Clone Hunter (Clone Rebellion Chronicles)

Clone Hunter (Clone Rebellion Chronicles) - Victor Methos I can't post a rating for this book because I both loved and hated it at the same time. I felt that there was a lot that could have made it so much more better than it was but there were quite a few flaws that prevented me from being able to delve in and immerse myself in the world that the author did so well to create. You can tell that they put a lot of thought in it but the over all execution of dialog or the repetition from multiple views of the same scene or conversation wasn't needed but its cool that they thought to add the extra detail. The author could have added it a different way without interrupting so often just to back track to something they already touched on three or four times already.

Bloodline

Bloodline - Ken Hattaway I really hated rating this book so low because I felt it had SOO much potential. If the book had been shifted from teens to adults and the author had expanded more on it I would have fell face first in adoration over this book. Some YA's do well with me, some don't but I believe in this book and I really hope for more depth and expansion in the future.

Practical Mischief

Practical Mischief - D.D. Scott Not bad, not great. Simple concept slow on the uptake.

Dragon's Fire

18107756

I found this book on Amazon and I enjoyed it. Its an interesting paranormal romance that is geared for both New Adult and Adult romance with enough fresh plot twists to keep you interested for the journey. The characters are likable and the story is well thought out.

To Iraq And Back

To Iraq And Back - Jessica Scott Wow... really wow... Its difficult to get through a book like this one because its not just a story. Its an account. Its a connection to something at home or a routine you would keep if you were still at home except that she isn't. She's in a place most women aren't brave enough to tread.
I felt both disdain, awe, sympathy, pride, love, heartache... Many emotions that just floor you from beginning to end. I was very impressed with this book.
