What's new with A.M. Griffin

A.M. Griffin

July 2014

Welcome Readers!

Next month I'll be attending Authors After Dark (AAD) as a featured author for the very first time. Woot! I thought it would be wonderful to get to know some of the authors who are going to be hanging out with me. I hope I'm also introducing you all to some awesome new writers.

I asked them one simple question...

What motivates you to attend Authors After Dark?

Robin Ludwig Design, Inc.
While Robin isn't an author, she provides a lot of the smexy covers for authors. She's the graphic artist that has made all three of my Cimmerian Moon covers. Here's more about Robin!

My motivation for attending is two fold. I love meeting new authors and making new friends, but I also love seeing friends I have made from past AAD conventions. I have always felt like Authors After Dark is a family reunion. The writing community is an extraordinary group and I am so thrilled to be part of it. Regardless of the reason for being at the convention everyone finds a place to be and is included through their love of books. I attended my first AAD as a reader and blogger and now as a cover designer with the privilege of assisting with AAD promotional design and printing. Authors After Dark really is an opportunity to meet new friends, make connections and indulge in the passion of books.

Selena Blake

Selena Blake here. I can’t wait to put faces with names at Authors After Dark. So many of my friends and readers are going and this is an excellent chance to meet them face to face, get in some hugs and buy them a drink. That’s why I’m going to AAD, to meet people. So don’t be shy, come say hi!

Boon Brux

Where do I begin? I love the size of AAD. Not too big and not too small. It gives me a chance to interact with readers one on one. As an author the convention gives me tons of opportunities to be involved, panels, parties, swag. It’s great for getting my name and books out to readers who haven’t heard of me or my work. But seriously, the thing I love most about AAD is getting to dress up. Who doesn’t love costumes? Vampires, fairies, pirates—there was even a satyr last year. Whatever you want to be, AAD gives you the opportunity to dress it up right. It is just a good time all around.

Lacie Nation

I chose AAD because it's reader based. I'm pretty unknown so being able to interact with potential new readers is an amazing opportunity. I went to AAD in NOLA and it was an amazing experience. I know this year will be an even better time because I know what to expect. I'm so excited to meet everyone!

I grew up in Bangladesh on stories about djinns (genies) and now write about them. Djinns are not as well known as vampires or werewolves (yet!), so I was very excited to find out Stella Price, founder of AAD, also wrote about djinns (with her sister Audra) and wanted to meet her. The more I learned about AAD, the more excited I became because it sounds like a fun and fabulous event. I’m thrilled about my first AAD in August. I hope to meet a lot of new peeps and introduce them to my djinns and dragons!

I can't wait for AAD 2014! I'm excited to be going as a Featured Author and ball sponsor (Charity). I've always heard that AAD was the best reader conference out there, and many of my author friends just rave over how much fun it is, so when I found out it was only three hours from where I live, how could I not go? Now that I've signed up to be on some really amazing panels (I remember stalking my author friends' Facebook pages during AAD and seeing all the crazy and informative panels and wishing I were there), I'm counting the days till AAD! I hope to see you there!

A. M. Griffin Bio:

By day I see myself as Clark Kent – or maybe a girl version of him. I’m working hard at the day job, trying not to blow my cover. Then, in the face of danger – or in my case, at night, I’m a super-hero.

In my head, I’m fighting crime wearing a black-leather cat-suit. Of course I have the body to make my outfit work. I’m wearing a black mask, with my glossy (and split-end free) black hair hanging down my back. To top this uber cool (and slimming) ensemble off, I’m wearing fire engine red lipstick over full, pouty lips. On my skinny sexy legs, I have on stiletto boots that ride up to my knees.

Now I’m ready to fight crime – cool like (wha-cha).

Oh wait, I let my imagination run away from me. I don’t fight crime, I spin tales in my pajamas. Which, to keep the flow on the cool side, could be imagined not as flannel with snowflakes pictured on them, but as black silk.

So with my black silk pajamas on, after putting in hard hours at the day job, at night I sit at my computer looking cool as hell and spin tales of alien invasions, sexy alien kings, tough-as-nails Earth women, fighting, murder and of course, alien dismemberment.
